All that stuff will stop working after a couple years. You need a world-class economy to keep that stuff maintained.
Besides, Afghanistan has some huge problems right now. The Afghan army was a huge make-work project funded by the US, and the US is no longer paying them nor is it allowing the Afghan government access to the money that the former govt had stashed in foreign banks.
Afghanistan is now like Detroit after the car companies moved out, except Detroit has a Federal Government to pay many of the bills. Afghanistan has no one. Afghanistan has dirt. Lots and lots of dirt.
I think that one reason the Taliban stopped Afghans from leaving the country, aside from how bad it makes them look, is because someone realized what they would be left with if all the Americanized Afghans left.
Dirt, rocks, and an illiterate population.
You make a person poor enough and they don't fight back. The fighters are the ones who still have something. The absolute poor just lie down to get kicked.
