Default Occupation and Personality type inclination

Pantheon.world has a ranking of the 90,000 or so most memorable people who ever lived (the relative ranking is not especially important for this topic). They have categorised each person by their occupation of note.

I thought such a resource would be useful to find people who may well have similar personalities, and perhaps find individuals of types that are underrepresented when it comes to forum discussion. But of course it will probably also result in overly stereotyping.

Anyway, try to type the following occupations, with notes if you like. Use MBTI abbreviations if you wish, as I intend to. See which individuals are in each category to get a sense of what the category is about. "Companions" for example is basically the spouses of memorable people. "Inspiration" is similar to muse and is mostly an empty category and should probably be overlooked. You could try typing the meta-categories also.

This has a heavy bias against sensors.

    All Occupations - ENF

I imagine it's possible that ES types outnumber the IS types even in sports I visualise as being - in Big Five terms, Extroversion facets like "Activity Level", "Excitement Seeking", "Positive Emotions" may be significantly correlated, as well as the Conscientiousness facets like "Achievement Striving".

This is biased against Ne-leads. I hope this is because we're jacks of all trades and not because we suck at everything we try and then give up and do something more fun.
I think ENTP and ENFP fulfill a wildcard role in many occupations. Ne is not meant to be used as a tool for 'mastery', but a tool for innovation. Combined with the typical Ne thing of having a million different interests, you get people who are good at everything but not remarkably good at anything. And thus the Ne leads remain in the shadows in a world where hyper-specialists get all the money and fame

Some interests outside the obvious sciency computery ones with high concentrations of ENTP: Trading/investing, poker (money + applied maths = jackpot for ILEs), freelancing, small business. Of course not everyone wearing a fancy suit and doing business is LIE. I'd say a good 30-40% of business people that get instantly typed as LIE are actually ILE or SLE. In fact, anything related to risk-taking is the realm of Se and Ne (acting quick, identifying potential opportunities), not Te. Just cause they're P types doesn't mean they don't have the grit to start a business and put a ton of hours into it. Small businesses are great for ILE because it allows them to use their Ne creativity to solve problems, gives them a wide variety of tasks and knowledge, etc.

I'd say that Ip sounds like composing temperament. Like putting things together starting low. Structure is flawless, no bugs, it is well put together but lacks something new. I usually have very much opposite approach.

If Jung based his theories on the people he met in his life, even if he met more people than the average person, that means that he based his theories on a certain type of person. The type of person who might go to him for therapy or talks, or who might believe the esoteric ideas he was spouting at the time. Thus it's possible that he did not categorize all humans into types, but just made subtypes for a specific type of person. This overarching type of person is the same type that is heavily interested in theories of this kind, and whom Alive says is an IEI.

Therefore, Alive is right. We are all IEIs with subtypes. With that, I'm off this forum

Can you provide a citation and what was said and why?

It seems you are more interested in who says something (Gulenko vs. not-Gulenko) than the actual content of what was said. Which is aristocratic behaviour.

I came to remark on how gulenko cited my occupation as a justification for a typing and I can follow the reasoning behind it. But I notice that this thread is apparently an argument that I can't read because of ignored posts

An optimist - does not get discouraged under any circumstances. Life upheavals and stressful events only toughen him and make more confident. He likes to laugh and entertain people. Enters contact with someone by involving him with a humorous remark. His humor is often sly and contain hints and double meanings. Easily enters into arguments and bets, especially if he is challenged. When arguing his points is often ironic, ridicules the views of his opponent. His irritability and hot temper may be unpleasant to others. However, he himself is not perceptive of this and believes that he is simply exchanging opinions.

    Derived from this paper:

https://www.pnas.org/content/pnas/116/52/26459.full.pdf (direct link to pdf file) (their Github repo with the full data is here)

Work is thought to be more enjoyable and beneficial to individuals and society when there is congruence between one’s personality and one’s occupation. We provide large-scale evidence that occupations have distinctive psychological profiles, which can successfully be predicted from linguistic information unobtrusively collected through social media. Based on 128,279 Twitter users representing 3,513 occupations, we automatically assess user personalities and visually map the personality profiles of different professions. Similar occupations cluster together, pointing to specific sets of jobs that one might be well suited for. Observations that contradict existing classifications may point to emerging occupations relevant to the 21st century workplace. Findings illustrate how social media can be used to match people to their ideal occupation.

This may just show that "ENTJs" and those with a similar personality are more likely to be on social media. But I think it is of some relative interest.

Supposedly people with tattoos are more extroverted on average. Maybe that is true also of tattooists.

Architects are supposed to be especially prone to being ENTJ, but maybe this doesn't translate into physical occupations like stonemasonry. Possibly ST generally.

From socionics perspective intuitive types and architecture does not really go hand in hand at al. Quite the contrary. As such architects probably need to be pushier than than people in many other occupations about their design to that probably contributes to MBTI ENTJ label while it is totally contradicting from cognitive perspective.

I got the ENTJ approximation from the Big Five.

I might IEIs and SEIs to be inclined to be architects, because they might want to to create aesthetically pleasing buildings. And of course LIEs have poor .

But maybe in fact LIEs would like being architects, similar to how they might like being engineers.
