The Barnum or Forer effect is the tendency for people to judge that general, universally valid statements about personality are actually specific descriptions of their own personalities. A "universally valid" statement is one that is true of everyone—or, more likely, nearly everyone. It is not known why people tend to make such misjudgments, but the effect has been experimentally reproduced.
The psychologist Paul Meehl named this fallacy "the P.T. Barnum effect" because Barnum built his circus and dime museum on the principle of having something for everyone. It is also called "the Forer effect" after its discoverer, the psychologist Bertram R. Forer, who modestly dubbed it "the fallacy of personal validation".
The decisive thing is not the reality of the object, but the reality of the subjective factor, i.e. the primordial images, which in their totality represent a psychic mirror-world. It is a mirror, however, with the peculiar capacity of representing the present contents of consciousness not in their known and customary form but in a certain sense sub specie aeternitatis, somewhat as a million-year old consciousness might see them.

Christmas oratorio by Saint-Saëns (1858). For strings, harp, organ + singing. I just came from the concert. But they had piano instead of organ, but I strongly feel that it has to be organ. It creates the magic.

I like the way the song builds up to the change at about 4:10.
Only song I’ve been able to vibe with this week honestly.

Edit: bruhhh how come it doesn’t show up as a video like everybody else’s, I suck at forum formatting
Copy the URL of the video you want to present, then in your new post, position your cursor where in the post you want your video to appear and click there.
Then click on the little green icon in the top bar of your post. It looks like a film strip.
When a pop-up window opens, paste your URL into the box. Close the window, complete your post, and then hit “Post Quick Reply”.
Fantastic video, incidentally. I’m sending it to my IEI cousin, who seems to think that her Duals are all conservative jerks. Well, the one she knows is. Thanks for letting me broaden her perspective.
That guy in the video is an SLE for sure. He looks like one, he moves like one, and he doesn’t have a fucking clue about how he feels.
For him, feelings are a foreign country.
If that woman in the video were blonde, she’d be my IEI cousin. Fe friendly, ethereally elusive to someone who deals only in the concrete.
