I've just been discussing some of our 'issues' with a fellow ISFp and was wondering what our duals' take on them would be and how (or if) you would deal with them. By issues, I'm talking about our seemingly contradictory need for emotional closeness and emotional freedom.

This can manifest itself in 'hot and cold' behaviour - you know like wanting to be really close to someone one minute and then feeling claustrophobic the next. So i was just wondering - would this behaviour freak you out??

Sorry, are you saying ISFp's behave like that? I'm an ILE, and I behave like that all the time! However I mask it with a friendly smile, and make an excuse to get my emotional freedom. Best way!

unstable Fe might be kind of reinforcing to ILE or SLE in some way. we so want it...we'll try to get it outta ya if you aren't giving it.

My thought is (although I'm not ENTp) is that they might not even notice it! I mean, they might be focused on their own stuff and by default provide the space that the SEI needs to recharge or get the distance that they need. I have definitely noticed this hot-cold thing going on with the SEIs I know. I try to use the cold time as a chance to go off and do my own thing. It's actually kinda nice. lol

That would work well if we had a schedule thing going on

- but it's unlikely that we would both be in 'hot' mode or both be in 'cold' mode at the same time.

thanks, i kinda live that quote or at least try to....

well by unstable i guess i meant more intermittent. like, if the giving of the Fe is more creative, more intermittent, ILE would find it more reinforcing, since you may not get it all the time. like, it might make you keep trying to get it, knowing that you may or may not get it.

plus ILE is a space cadet like redbaron says....wandering off into their own thoughts and activities...

Yeah exactly. That sums it up well ... though sounds rather selfish when I think about it ...

it sounds like you don't have much control over when you feel this way
but for me I can be either anytime depending on what's going on around me.

It depends what's going on around me as well. My emotions are affected by my surroundings and other people's moods and things like that ... which sort of means it's not within my control doesn't it?

But it just occurred to me that maybe you meant that you adapt your mood to suit what's going on around you ... rather than letting it decide your mood.

Is that what you meant?

Isn't that the same? Your mood is being changed by the group dynamic.

For example,

1. sad mood=you adapt your mood and turn quiet and sadly.
2. sad mood=the mood of the group decides your mood. You are now quiet and sadly.

I see it is as the same.
