I'm not sure what being duals with an intelligent type says about you. Does that make you smart or dumb?

Neither, but asking that question sure says something.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Just to clarify, duals IMO seem to compensate for the each other's weaknesses. So that would point to a skewed intelligence in the dual pair. However, since they have the same order of elements, when the "maybe less intelligent type" uses these "smart" elements, they place the same emphasis on them that the more intelligent type places on them. Hence, my confusion. There could also be no correlation and my first postulation can be wrong.

You're going to have to define what you mean by intelligence for this to go anywhere.

Wait, if you take this line of reasoning you might suppose that one dual should be beautiful to compensate for the other's ugliness, etc.
What weakness does an intelligent person have that a dumb one would be able to compensate for?

You can claim this as soon as you know what you're talking about.

    Good luck.

i guess u need to define what intelligence, beauty, and ugliness is in terms of socionics.

First of all there is technically no such thing as "an intelligent type".

Second, people are usually happiest with other people who have rather similar level of intelligence but complementing functional preferences.

Based off of your signature I'm gonna go ahead and make the call that liveandletlive is ENFj or INFp. She sounds like the type of person that goes against authority at times.

Depends on what you consider to your own personal dumb/smart spectrum. For instance, one could easily point at any so called "smart" person and find many a "dumb" flaw within them. Smart or dumb at/in what !?!?!

In other words, duality isn't about that, specifically.

    Live just thinks intelligent=NT.
Considering the way IQ tests are structured, she's following the commonplace definition of intelligence... the one most people here know is wrong... and the one INTps are secretly convinced of :-P

No Live, you are not dumb. You can kick those INTps' asses anytime you want.

For what's it worth, I've met some serious dumb SEE, but it didn't effect our relationship at all.

But what Liveandlive proposed, could also be looked at from the opposite angle. Having a powerful, witty, seductive, popular dual, what makes that us then :-)

hahaha i know. idk... just wondering where i stand. plus too, i think the notion that NT=intelligence is pretty much commonplace around here, and SF=dumbass. so yeah, just questioning that too.

Not to say that intelligence is type-related, but the normal conception of it (i.e. what is measured on IQ tests) is definitely related to logic, intuition, and Ti more than any other element. Which of course brings up the small issue of what it really means to be "strong" in a given element.

I've been reading the journal of a high-IQ society lately, and the kinds of experience its members share all seem to be related to developing NT at the expense of SF, regardless of their actual types.

there's a BLATANT bias here that NT=intelligence. ask any SF person here. you're on the other side of it all so you may not be as aware of it... but yeah.
