(I love what everybody is doing with the thread. I'll still get back to the 'real' continuation).

As you enter the cave you have to walk slightly up a slanted floor. The snow quickly becomes less thick as you enter and you can observe the floor of the rocky cavern itself. There's a visible groove in the floor, made by a stream in some time long past. The groove continues along the right wall of the cave.

The first area in the cave itself is quite large. Surprisingly the cave is not only lit by what you carry. There's glittery ice shavings in large piles on the floor. You recognize these as the droppings of glitterbirds, a type of ice elemental that tends to fly in daytime sun and collect light. When they're satiated they tend to roost in cave ceilings, chirp at each other and shave parts of their body that fall on the ground. The ice shavings tend to retain an inner luminescence for a few months. You can hear up above a low susurrus of resting glitterbirds shaking. Looking at the ceiling you notice a large number of icicles but you feel certain that some of them are actually the elemental creatures.

There's goblin tracks all around. They seem to be particularly concentrated to the right side of the cavern as a path that leads north and another path that follows the left side of the cavern towards west. To the northwest there's an area with a peculiar absence of goblin tracks.

As for loot, you pocket some glittery ice shavings. As for goblins, you see none yet.

    What do you do?

I ready my sword and follow the path north in search of goblins. Surprise attack is the best defense.

You're carrying two weapons, a large axe and a blade. The blade is very large for a knife, short for a sword. The sword is more wieldy, particularly in narrow spaces. You figure you're not going to need to make that large of a wound into a goblin to incapacitate one anyway.

You move quietly, aiming to surprise anyone you find. (You roll 10:53 PM) You suspect you're quiet enough.

You move up the cave to a ledge as you follow the goblin path and the groove in the floor. You find that there's a small tunnel that starts at the back. It's barely large enough for you to walk in with though you need to slightly bend your knees as you walk.

You hear the sounds of a goblin yelling a battle-cry slightly deeper in the tunnel. For a moment you expect an enemy to rush you but nothing happens. The sound then repeats and you hear a blade strike a rock. Then you hear an annoyed growl.

You notice that just a few yards ahead of you there's a nook on the left. A single goblin is moving there, apparently practising with his shortsword. The critter is likely a guard though they haven't noticed you quite yet.

I pounce on the lone goblin and cut his throat so that he can't make a noise while dying.

[You roll 09:09 PM] You wait for the critter to swing his sword once more so he's out of balance. Then you grab their head from behind and open their neck from side to side. A small fountain of mustard-coloured blood starts pumping onto the floor. Only a short wheezing noise comes from the goblin's throat as they look to continue living while the option is just not there.

Quickly you check the area. You find the creature carrying a number of painted metal plates which you know these creatures use for currency (8 caps). There's also a pouch with a dead fish in it, some mushroomy substance with bite marks, a metal canister that makes a buzzing sound, an empty waterskin, a small furcloak and a very much used shortsword.

In the nook there's not that much else. There's scrawlings on the partially ice cowered walls. It's mostly rude graffiti. One is picture of a butthole around a hole in the wall. There's also a block of ice, cowered by packed snow, covered by a patch of fishskin to make a very uncomfortable chair.

The original tunnel continues onwards to increasing darkness. You hear the sound of splashing water and a rhytmic clanking sound.

I examine the canister to determine what it might be containing and pocket the caps and the food. I go and see what kind of machinery might make the sounds.

You put the caps and the food into a pouch on your belt.

You screw off the lid of the canister. From inside comes blue-white light and a crackling noise. There's what looks like a small lightning elemental going round and round inside the canister. Because of the bright light it's hard to see any detail though. It's not blasting you with electricity so it seems like you could use it as a lantern so you hold the canister in your shield hand while you tread furter into the dark cave.

You advance through the tunnel acutely aware that the goblins can see your light from afar while they can see in the darkness. The groove in the tunne's floor continues along the tunnel. You finally come to a larger chamber, roughly 12x10 yards. It's natural chamber that has been widened and made higher as well so you can stand straight.

In the middle of the chamber there's a well. Over the well there's a weird contraption. From the ceiling hang ropes and in those ropes is a whale's heart, glistening and moist but obviously conserved through some necromantic magics. Around this heart is a metallic vice which opens and closes periodically, slowly pressing aund unpressing the heart. The metallic vice crackles with a similar light as your canister - another lightning elemental must be moving it somehow.

From the heart a long vessel drops down into the well. Roughly every twenty seconds the heart splurges a gush of water, maybe a pint or so in a direction that allows the water to fall straight back into the well. The water jet comes near enough to the edge of the well that it would be easy to catch most of the water.

In the well there's a growling sound. Looking in it's a distant drop, maybe 10 yards. Far down there seem to be a couple of imprisoned hell hounds. You can see the flashes of flame from their mouths. Apparently they make ice melt for the well to work.

From the room there are three further tunnels forward. One to the west, one to the north-west and a larger one to the north.

    What do you do?
