Good advice, Transigent, especially seeing how I'm graduating in a week (next Thursday.)
So, according to you, I may not be an INTp? Hmm...

While I am not in High School anymore, I do have to admit I graduated just two Saturdays ago, so yes I am quite young still.
So your overall advise is to not try and lock yourself into a type at a young age then?
actually, the same applies also to me, strangeOriginally Posted by Transigent

When I was wondering whether I was I or my mirror, the thing that clinched it was my relations to people with known types. You will not mistake your supervisee with your look-a-like.
This makes me think that you are not ENTJ. It seems that we rarely admire the SKILLS of identical types (because we have the same skills) rather we admire the RESOURCES that allow them to utilize those skills. I have NEVER envied an INTJ's skill but I have wished I had read as much as one on a certain topic or wished I had a "normal" life like they did so I could do the same things they do without second guessing myself. The difference can be subtle. On the other hand I am fascinated by the way ENTPs think and wish I could THINK like them because I can't seem to get a complete grasp of it. Just some thoughts.Originally Posted by ayoforjager
"Hanging out with "cool" people to make yourself feel good?" That's an INTp trait? I find that very, very hard to believe. I don't care about being cool, or going to parties, or hanging out with people, or any type of group activity whatsoever. If I could have it my way, I would have a few friends, a lover, and that's it.Originally Posted by Transigent

Have you ever noted that the static personalities are more dependent on resources and the dynamics more on skills? As an ENTJ I can happily tell you that I admire other ENTJ's for their skills and achievements. A static INTJ envying another INTJ's resources makes equal sense as this.Originally Posted by Pedro-the-Lion

@SmilingEyes: Elaborate.
Also what I was trying to get at is you ARE identical functionally to the person so you don't really have that sense of fascination or incapability that you do with a mirror.
Well, theoretically yes, but there's the double-matter of sub-types and self-confidence. A person admires people who are doing what he thinks he could do but thinks or knows he can not yet. Think about some kid playing basketball admiring magic johnson. He believes that he could achieve the same, but the he sees that the other guy already did it. Other reasons can be found but it's reasonable to put oneself in one's mind to the position of a succesful person of the same type. Anyway, there's not yet enough information to actually solve the type-riddle in this case yet. I'Originally Posted by Pedro-the-Lion

I think wanting to hang out with cool people is a trait you can find in any type especially when youre in high school. what a way to miss the point of this thead.

Transigent missed the point of his own thread O.o
And at smiling: Terminal vs. Initial?
If 1 function is dominant and person is primarily accepting, he's terminal.Originally Posted by Pedro-the-Lion

This can be one cause of mistakes when converting MBTI into socionics. MBTI gives me INTJ though I'm actually an ENTJ preferring my Ni function.

Now check this site out what's link you just were looking. It's that socionika.com page and this link linkes us to the place of lot's of great materials about socionics. I'll bet that most of us in here hasn't studied it correctly.
BTW, when I was young and at highschool , every test I did showed that I was Introvert and the first time I did test to get your MBTI type, I scored INFJ. But the descriptions in Estonian language didn't mach with my understandings of my self so I started to think a lot about my own real type. Time passed and coming back from the chrisis, where I am still living, I realized that I was actually E and probably ENTP. When I first realized that what my type is, I was realy surprised and thought even that I changed my type somehow though one Socionics specialist in my country kept on telling that this was impossible as the type is inborn. But I had to face it, I was E and that I need to live normal Extroverts life to be mentally healthy. Doing it still is mostly unrealized as I am too much isolated from others. So moral of this story is that you can be ISFJ by tests at one point of your life and ENTP in other, though all the time you were actually one still type.

Transigent. Those tests I told you about were the tests of avarage psychology and they really tell you that extraverts are sociable and introverts are wall flawers. It was Socionics what started to tell you this different story. But when being young and having an idea that you are nobody, you will with great joy start to listen those things that psychology says to introverts and sensorics as they are the type of people psychology doesn't like, but makes an impression, if they were just different.
Hey good advice I'll have one more year to go then to find out my true self.
I agree, somewhat. I'm 20 and I just went through that "finding myself" period. However, I think Socionics helped me get to this point.
In high school I was plagued by the feeling that personality-wise I was a freak of nature. It didn't help that during most of that period I was infatuated with a guy who barely gave me the time of day.
Discovering that there are plenty of other people, other women, who think the way I do improved my self-confidence/esteem immensely. I figured out that I AM someone who is worth knowing and liking and loving, etc. And socionics helped with that.

(Though recently I've been exhibiting some extroverted tendancies...maybe, considering what's been written in this thread, I should rethink my type? Hmm...)

FWIW, I am 41 (as of yesterday!!) and most of my life tested as enfp, although I am actually entp.
Although they say that the auxiliary function develops in your teens, with me it didn't fully express itself until my 20's.

Not really... it seems many INTJs go through an extraverted phase that they find difficult to maintain over the long term. If you analyze your facial expression and whether your communication style is active or passive you should still see "Introvert" even though you are hangin out with a lot of people (I've seen lots of introverts act this way especially INTJs). But yeah you should always leave room for considerationOriginally Posted by XcaliburGirl
