Jesus=God is at the core of the belief in the Holy Trinity, which in turn was deduced from intepretations of the NT. This question was very controversial in the 4th century but at the Council of Nicea of 325, chaired by the still-pagan Emperor Constantine, the majority of bishops voted to decide that Jesus=God. The bishops who disagreed were banned.

I guess this settles the matter, doesn't it? Constantine - the "13th apostle", as he called himself - and those 4th century bishops would know.

The Bible over personifies God for the sake of the stupid people... passages about conversations between God and Jesus or Jesus talking about God are just written as such so that it's easier for idiots to grasp.

Sycophant, some Christians like to take every verse of the Bible literally. I tend to see it as being more metaphorical, using analogies such as a father son relationship, streets of gold, or a lake of fire to describe things which are difficult if not impossible for human beings to grasp. So I guess there are a lot of people who would agree with you... I am not one of them. I'm not entirley certain what I believe, but I do know that I do not interpret the Bible literally.
