I don't know... I think that an ISTj would first gather some steam and refrain from blowing up BUT if it is too much... you could get "Se hell".

here is a sample SMS I got from an ISTj woman I know:

"I'm going out of my mind! I have to beat this idiot, I want to scream and curse, I'm sick with anger. The idiot is [her coleagues name] Sweet kisses, I wanted to blow off some steam."

This is a rough translation but as you can see... there is outer composure and inner rage that only the very close get to see.

On a side note... ISTj make me think about the front line elves from LOTR. Calm in the face of the attacking horde, striking at the precise moment.

p.s. i had a great accountant/controller at a major company who was a female istj and she was no bullshit get shit done and i would hire them for anything. great eye for detail and i enjoy putting confusing situations into context for them...the only problem with them is when they think they're truly in the dominant position...then they become headstrong destructive asses.

Oh ISTj's, how do I love thee...

I have a long-time ISTj "friend" (ahem). The relationship is phenomenal. We really do rev each other up. After a day together, a phone call, a few hours of silly/flirty texting, we feel a strong, bonded sort of elation - we're energized and feeling great.

We laugh till it hurts, truly. ISTj's are NOT as uptight as the descriptions make them seem. This one is a bit of a perv, fairly relaxed (once I shake him up a lil bit) and a riot to take out for a night.

We pick on each other mercilessly (and have people dying of laughter) but it's never a gut punch sort of thing. We can tease each other about things that would kinda hurt hearing from someone else, only because it's obvious that we love these quirks/traits about each other. Plus, the delivery of these jokes are very warm and affectionate.

I love him dearly. Too bad we just won't commit... even after 7 years... but I think I would pick him over my dual(s). Go figure.

Yeah, ISTj's are in varying degrees of uptightness. It might come from their upbringing.

One ISTj I know comes from a really strict upbringing, like overprotection, and he's not as uptight as another ISTj who goes out with friends and does stuff.

    Maybe it is inversely proportional.

yeah as an enfj i can say that at 30 i've come to the realization for sure that i dont want to get married. i pretty much never wanted children either. i like how steady an istj can be, but if they wanted to get married i think i would suffocate and become resentful.

Very tragic, never met (or rather have never been close to) an ISTj before, they seem like pretty interesting people.

But contact with them is rare, since I don't think we would be in the same circles.

I wish I was surrounded by more Betas in my life.

    Default LSI-ISTj Appreciation Thread

This is the thread for appreciation of the iron-clad stoicism, brutal badassery, spine-tingling moments of insane bravery in the face of death/mulitation, and sheer balls of LSIs in fantasy, fiction, movies, etc

My first example: Captain Mifune from The MatrixTrilogy. Captain Mifune is the leader of an armed unit defending Zion in the last defense against the machines. Captain Mifune not only delivers a ridiculously badass inspirational speech before sending his troops out to defend the last remnant of the human race, but, in addition, kills over fiften bajillion sentinals when left completely on his own to defend the bridge so that the heros of the movie can make it back into Zion, and, although he is killed before the Hammer reaches the gate, he fights as the last man standing and continues to rape copious amounts of sentinals until he is horribly disfigured and left for dead. And, even then, he clings onto life long enough to deliver an inspirational speech to Kid, who, moved by the captain's epic combination of bravery, badassness, and humility, takes up the APU and shoots open the chain holding the gate closed, allowing the Hammer to enter Zion.

    What a man.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Charles Manson. I don't know if he counts as epic though. He VIs like my sister.

How could you possibly put Charles Manson in league with Captain Mifune?

Personally I tend to lean Beta NF for Manson, the classic guru-cult-former types.

Lol, k, Thank you. I stand corrected. But I'd like to make the point that Jack Bauer is only the cure for cancer in connection with Chuck Norris.

I consider characters to be separate from their actors and type them independent of their actors personal quirks. I find that to be the only way to have acted characters have any meaningful type.

Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren (who've even stared togeather) aren't implausible, although i tend to think Se-ESI for them too.
Don't know enough of them. Van Damme gives more of a beta feeling than Lundgren, but being a b-class actor isn't epic in my opinion anyway so I wouldn't include either. I suppose some of their characters might be epic though.

i think Sean Connery is a pretty typical Se-LSI, though his characters seem more mass-market subdued (reminiscent of Burt Reynolds.)
Sean Connery might even be epic himself I guess.

among Presidential figures, i would go with Se-LSI Rumsfeld and Truman (though the later a more mild Ti subtype -- reminiscent of actor Ed Harris)
Truman for sure, again Rumsfeld fails at being epic imo. Also I felt Truman isn't the sort of epic that Gilly was looking for, but I guess he's epic in his own way.

before Jackson. if not SEE Jackson, i think is at least EP.
Ok, I can't see that. I don't see any F in him and he certainly was Se and he certainly wasn't ESTp so I have go with ISTj.

Teddy Roosevelt... mmm... epic...yeah, I'll go with that.

...the human race will disappear. Other races will appear and disappear in turn. The sky will become icy and void, pierced by the feeble light of half-dead stars. Which will also disappear. Everything will disappear. And what human beings do is just as free of sense as the free motion of elementary particles. Good, evil, morality, feelings? Pure 'Victorian fictions'.

    Joe Gilmore a.k.a. Marshal Law - Se-ISTj.

Goverment sanctioned superhero hunter who gleefully and brutally pursues rogue costumed heroes in the city of San Futuro.

"A lot of people say I'm a uniformed thug, no better than the scum I hunt down... a fascist cop... a glorified Nazi... a legalized vigilante, handing out his own highly suspect street "justice"... someone with a pathological hatred of superheroes, reveling at the chance to beat the hell out of them. That sounds fair. I can live with that. — Marshal Law

    Lyle Bolton a.k.a. Lock-Up - Se-ISTj.

Arkham Asylum's former Head of Security via a grant from Wayne Enterprises due to vast knowledge of hi-tech security systems, Lyle Bolton was eventually removed from his position because of his cruel and unusual treatment of AA's criminal inmates. After his firing, Bolton assembled a costume and equipment for the purpose of creating his vigilante alter ego, Lock-Up. As Lock-Up, Bolton kidnapped wanted criminals and incompetent city officials, who's permissive attitudes he felt were responsible for Gotham City's high crime rate, and imprisoned them in an abandoned private prison facility where he played judge, jury, and executioner to his inmates. Oh, and Batman sometimes gets in his way.

Alternative typings for these fine gentleman would be ESTj, moreso for Bolton - but these are my first impressions.

This thread is a mocking disgrace to the epicary of LSIs. Nobody even posted so much as a spine-tingling anecdote. Shame on you all.

I guess I'll just have to post another one.

My second example: Eric Foreman from House M.D. Despite being somewhat uptight, Foreman is a complete hard ass. He gets the job done no matter what the cost, because he just knows that he can do it, because he is the fucking man. One time, a kid was suffocating, and so of course Foreman grabs the intubation kit to do his awesome thing and save the kid's life. But the kid's airways are shut tight, and he's been out for a while; Cameron grabs the trach kit and starts telling Foreman that they are going to cut his throat open, because this kid's been under for so long that he's about to get brain damaged. But Foreman says, "No, fuck you bitch, I got this." She's putting the knife to this kid's throat like she's about to gut the kid, but of course Foreman pulls through in the clutch, gets the tube down the kid's throat, and starts pumping air.

The most badass thing Foreman has ever done: there's a kid with leukemia in the hospital who is supposed to get a bone marrow transfusion from his little brother, but the brother is sick so House has to cure the kid first. Well, the kid starts to get really fucking sick and it looks like he's gonna die, too, and the older brother proposes to put the kid's marrow in the him so that he will die and they can find out what did it and cure the little brother, because he's going to die anyways. Well, the team figures it out first, and they cure the little kid, but the treatment for his illness means that he can't go under anesthesia, so the transplant can't be done in time. But no: Foreman totally wings it, manipulates the little kid into giving up his marrow, sticks a massive needle in the kid's leg without painkillers, and does the whole fucking transplant on his own, saving both kids in epic fashion.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

ps. Jack Bauer strikes me as Negativist and Serious. I don't see much of the power-happy kind of behavior that characterizes ISTjs in him.
