Default What kind of sport do LIIs-INTjs practice?

    Hello,

It's my first post on this forum. I've been reading it for a couple of months and in a sense, it's good to discover I am not the only one "to be like me" (ie INTx and most likely j than p) .

I was wondering what kind of sport(s) do INTjs practice the most ? In my case, it's scuba-diving. It's quite technical especially if you are interested in deep diving, underwater photo/video or making/repairing some parts of your own equipment (I've designed and built several divelights, a housing for a PDA, etc...) and it's also something you can practice solo.

    ..... Rocky?

    Anyway...

I like sports only so much, in regards to competing with other people. I have issues from the past/family in that regard. However, I am getting more physically active (see the "anything goes" thread), and I practice martial arts. I used to do target shooting and similar, if you would consider that a sport. I always liked football when I was younger, and frisbee type sports. I never joined a team in school, for obvious INTj reasons. Used to play basketball a lot, but not so much recently. I want to get into biking again. And running.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head

something non-competitive, not team-sport and physically not very hard. In general, I don't think there is much of a connection between types and sports preferences.

    I practiced tai-chi for about 3 years.

I don't know. People probably don't use their brain the same way if the sport involves strategy, team-play or if the goal is to run for a long time. I like autonomy, team-sports do not look to be the best activity for me although I enjoy hiking or biking for a couple of other friends. Maybe yes, maybe no...

    Triathlon

    - Efficient use of workout time: every second I swim, bike or run contributes to my fitness. Unlike some sports, where you stand around too long doing nothing.

    - I can train solo. I train whenever I have time and don't need a team to play.

    - The balancing act of training all 3 discipline is an art. It's a great mental and physical challenge.

I loved pitching but was young when I played. I also didnt wear glasses or contacts so I near sighted. Overall I was a horrible player with potential exceeding most other players potential. I didnt go out there and bust my ass but I was in the zone a few times, and did some good shit. I was also fairly outta shape but hey its only little league. Now im 17 years old 6' 175 without gear/shoes. I really like batting and pitching, but was terrible at batting. I kinda throw like a right hand randy johnson. A couple parents said it looked like I was throwing at the ground or something. I was like 14 and could throw like 60+ which is pretty good considering that was right up there with like the best pitchers on the all-star team. I was like close to 20+% body fat. Now im like 15% but cutting to get down to those abs, I got the weird egg shaped bicept. I believe its a mesomorph trait but not sure. I think I am gonna see what I can do once I am in shape, but dont see a future in sports.

I think im more of a funny guy. Kinda like the person you will see either being quiet, teasing someone, or trying to teach people. Kinda like method man on How High lol

i personally despise all sports. though i ride a mountain bike on occasion, i use it as transportation, because i hate driving. but other than that, i don't like sports of any kind.

All sports except basketball, which I'm a bit too short to play proficiently.

generally i'm too lazy to be really involved in sports. this could also have to do with the fact that i was never picked for any team throughout school, leading to a knee-jerk averse reaction to anything sportlike.

but i get tremendously guilty and worried about not exercising, so at various times i've taken up basic exercising, cycling, horseback riding, swimming, and joined the navy reserves. i hate the first two, like the third but it's too much of a hassle to keep up, still do the fourth, and no longer have time to be active in the fifth. though i'm thinking of taking up scuba diving.

    biking, my fave

that's because I can do it whenever I want without depending on someone else, but I'd enjoy team sports better.

I have an INTj friend who's a state champion swimmer. He does the butterfly. Guy's a beast.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

My two best and favorite sports are Cross country and paintball. I ran cross country in HS for 3 years and I play paintball every chance I can. Also both sports can get you in great shape, running especially helps you when your playing paintball because you get used to doing physically strenious exercises with little oxygen and when your playing paintball you have a mask on that severly cuts your ability to breath.

this threads older than dirt but thought it kinda interesting since its talking about the oxymoron alphas and sports. i'm not 100% sure but i believe i'm an INTj.

-dirt bike riding (not competitively, but exploring)
    -hiking
-used to play tons of sports as a child but that was mostly parents pushing me
    -dance dance revolution
    -weight lifting

Also, I've been known to get into really inane contests. Stuff like bowling or throwing a paper ball into a bin. I don't play games which are very competitive because I feel it means something when I lose, so I get competitive in the sports which people don't care about because no one really remembers that you lost.

A guy i think is INTj runs marathons, cycles, and does triathlons. He used to play soccer in college too. I used to think he was sli for the longest time bc i had this misconception that Se POLR meant unathletic weakling, but over time that notion has been clarified in my mind.

I have nothing physically that keeps me from participating in competitive sports (except my impossible clumsiness). More of a mental barrier, because I dislike aggressive physical competition, which often arises on team-based physical sports.

More than anything, being told what to do in these situations pisses me off, especially when they're right, so I'll either find creative ways to not do the things I was instructed to or put up with it and quit later.

Regular physical activity is healthy and thus I've started to take walks and bike rides regularly to make up for the stretches of days and nights that I live on my computer(s).

I like to mess around if I'm playing a non-serious game with friends, like playing mini-golf with the child sized stick. It doubles as a way to test for and troll Se-ego types, who are prone to getting frustrated by "nobody trying to win."

I've played badminton and basketball quite a bit, though I don't anymore. In general, LIIs are more likely to like sports more focused on speed and precision, than on confrontation and struggle. We like to "be perfect" (), not to "beat the other guy" (), and we like the endorphins () produced from exertion, but we won't typically go for such an activity without some external prodding.

I think running (away from dangers) might be one. They are actually inclined to do something with their body because of Si HA. Running is not in your face competition so I guess it works for Se PoLR.

I've seen them lift a pencil and press it to a piece of paper. Lift and press, lift and press. Sometimes for minutes at a time.
Occasionally, they'll change out to a pen, probably for the weight difference.

Also, they push the buttons on their keyboards in a semi-random pattern, which I've heard is good for brain-training. Sort of like broken-field running, but mental.

Important to note! People who share "indentical" socionics TIMs won't necessarily appear to be very similar, since they have have different backgrounds, experiences, capabilities, genetics, as well as different types in other typological systems (enneagram, instinctual variants, etc.) all of which also have a sway on compatibility and identification. Thus, Socionics type "identicals" won't necessarily be identical i.e. highly similar to each other, and not all people of "dual" types will seem interesting, attractive and appealing to each other.

I'm not very good at sports but there are a few that I like.

One of them is horseback riding, and I used to go on a weekly basis. There is just something about the bond between you and the horse. They are herd animals, so understanding horse body language is very important. I think of them as very social instinct creatures. I always groom the horse and clean her hooves before I ride her. Each horse has their own individual personality too.

I also like going for hikes if that counts. Walking in general, at a leisurely pace. Swimming is another thing that I like, and I find it very relaxing. I couldn't imagine a summer vacation without at least some swimming in there. I try to go regularly during the sumer.

Make things right? Who are we to decide when things are right and when they need to be fixed?
