What's your favorite way to relax?
What's your favorite way to relax?
It's very hard for me to relax. A good movie or long workout helps some.
I just sit there.
These are very uninspiring answers so far. Except for LokiV, that is; I'm right there with you on your method.
How about...
- Soaking in a hot bath
- Drinking tea while reading something interesting
- Going for a run (the better to relax after which)
- Writing, as in free-writing or journaling
- Drawing or painting
- Playing with a beloved pet or other animal
- Pilates, or yoga
- Massage - giving or receiving one
- Having sex
- Taking a nap
LOL! Now that's inspiring. Thanks, Jessica!
lounging around, talking with a good friend or a couple of friends about whatever pops into our heads
lying on the beach at night with a cool breeze blowing, looking up at the stars and thinking about stuff
listening to music when I'm half tired
relaxing in a ridiculously comfortable chair while reading a book I'm engrossed in
"Language is the Rubicon that divides man from beast."
I don't like to rely on sex though, not readily available enough.
I do like to go for a walk around the place here though. Living in a nice neighborhood helps.

Hello, my name is Bee. Pleased to meet you .
Playing pool and drinking beer.
Sitting around with friends and wasting a day away with BS and smartass comments to one another.
Sex.
Taking pictures of everything.
Watch youtube vids of whatever and noticing that if you just keep going from related vid to related vid... you'll ALWAYS find boobs somewhere.
Driving around.
Gambling.
Telling random little kids they're adopted and that they should ask their parents about that.
Playing poker.
Walk the beach barefoot and scream like a little bitch every time the water hits it cuz the water is soooooo f'n cold here in Oregon.
Taking more pictures of shit.
Enjoying a thunderstorm in the summer and a warm fire during a blizzard int he winter.
Chilling with my friends.
Chilling with my roomies.
Going for long walks with my music playing and singing like no one in the world is listening.
Lying around with my music blasting, staring through the ceiling and thinking about everything.
Reading a book that is extremely interesting and/or completely mind-numbing and just wasting the day.
Shopping with my best friends.
Playing bridge, playing board games, playing card games, playing video games, playing.
Going out to the bar with my friends and just enjoying life.
Cuddling with Mr.Pillow in those last moments before going to bed or taking a nap. Sometimes instead of the ceiling above I'll curl up with my pillow instead and just ponder away. I could do that for hours.
Staring out the window on the bus and seeing nothing at all.

Very busy with work. Only kind of around.
Oh I forgot, fishing is incredibly relaxing. With the right people. You know, people who know when to shut the fuck up.

Coming to this forum, for some reason, although usually it produces the opposite of the desired effect... <3 addiction.
Oh, and reading. Reading is good, but I usually feel restless and somewhat bored/like I could be doing something better if I try to read, say, during the middle of the day; I find it a pastime best reserved for the night. Writing and drawing are also both very cathartic (I am very attracted to catharsis for some reason...), but again, I tend to feel bored after too long.
I would say the most effective things for relaxing, for me, are movies, working out, meditation, riding my bike, computer/console games, and just plain old sleeping.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies...
Oh my god, fishing is so fucking boring for me. I always just want to get in and swim, lol. I have never understood fishing, or boating/kayaking/canoing at a slow pace; I always feel like I have to get somewhere, "win the race" or something.
Something that I used to find very relaxing that I am looking forward to taking up again when I have the resources and proper facilities is archery. I fucking love archery. I used to teach it to a little kid when I was in high school. Such good times.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies...

I was talking to a friend a few days ago about how rainstorms and extremely cloudy weather have a terribly negative affect on my mood.
Relaxation for me mostly consists of laying in my bed listening to some music, playing a video game, or (rarely) going out to see a friend.
Sitting in a sauna relaxes me.
ahhh starfall, rain/thunderstorms FTW.
Saunas, hot tubs, hot shower...all that stuff is good.

I love fishing. Minus the killing/touching the worm/fish part. Very relaxing.
Yes. I think that fishing is one of those activities where it's not meant to be "exciting"; it's about mellowing out and catching dinner with some good friends and a cooler of beer. Ah... I need to get out to a lake or something. You guys comin' or what?
I'll come. I don't mind the hooking worms part.
Making a real nice dinner and eating it slowly (and doing nothing else, or talking with friends) seems to relax me too. I feel like i'm normally very distracted by other crap when I eat.

Ah Tereg, you are an evil tempter, aren't you? Those pics look beautiful! And for a while I was thinking of moving to Austin for school... looking at those I wonder if perhaps I made the wrong decision (assuming there is such a thing as a "wrong" decision).
I'm cracking up at how Delta these relaxation ideas are
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
--Theodore Roosevelt
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
-- Mark Twain
"Man who stand on hill with mouth open will wait long time for roast duck to drop in."

i have a hard time relaxing...i'm pretty self conscious really.
deep breaths
focused meditation
music, most kinds, especially with dancing (where i "lose" myself in the dance/music)
sex (again, where i "lose" myself in the experience...)
things that bring me back to my spiritual center
edit: a rambling walk outside soaking in the fresh energy of nature...
"Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt.
Sing like nobody's listening; live like it's heaven on earth."
Joy and I went to this bullshit science museum in Florida, and there was this brainwave apparatus thingy-ma-bob that would sense the brainwaves of two people via some funky metal head sensors, and the person whose brainwaves were the most "relaxed" would win this little game of electronic tug of war being displayed on a table situated between the two players.
Anyway, I won every time because I can effortlessly "zone out" and calm down my mind, but the reason I don't most of the time is because it's stupid.
Bye.
