I Knew I Loved You
Truly, Madly, DeeplyMaybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
and there it goes
I think I've found my best friend
I know that it might sound more than
a little crazy but I believe
[chorus:]
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
There's just no rhyme or reason
only this sense of completion
and in your eyes
I see the missing pieces
I'm searching for
I think I found my way home
I know that it might sound more than
a little crazy but I believe
[repeat chorus]
A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I found you
[repeat chorus to fade]
I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope, I'll be your love
Be everything that you need
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly Madly Deeply Do
I will be strong, I will be faithful
Coz I'm counting on
A new beginning
A reason for living
A deeper meaning (yeah)
I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I wanna lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me
And when the stars are shining
Brightly in the velvet sky
I'll make a wish send it to heaven
Then make you want to cry
The tears of joy for all the
Pleasure in the certainty
That we're surrounded
By the comfort and protection of
The highest powers
In lonely hours
The tears devour you
I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I wanna lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me
Oh can you see it baby?
You don't have to close your eyes
Coz it's standing right before you
All that you need will surely come
I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope, I'll be your love
Be everything that you need
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly Madly Deeply Do
I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I wanna lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me
Ditto. I like 10 Years.
And "This Land is Mine" by Dido.
From behind these walls I hear your song
Oh, sweet words
The music that you play lights up my world
The sweetest that I’ve heard
Could it be that I’ve been touched and turned
Oh Lord, please finally…finally things are changing
[Chorus:]
This land is mine but I’ll let you rule
I let you navigate and demand
Just as long as you know…this land is mine
So find your home and settle in
Ohhh, I’m ready to let you in
Just as long as we know…this land is mine
After all the battles and the wars
The scars and loss
I’m still the queen of my domain
and feeling stronger now
The walls are down a little more each day
Since you came, finally…finally things are changing
[Chorus]
Follow the days I’ve travelled alone
In this cold and colorless place till now
It’s what I had to pay
[Chorus]
This land is mine and I let you rule
I let you navigate on demand
Just as long as you know…this land is mine

If you want a starker Delta example of what I mean by fade in and out under the current of space, listen to this whole 2 minute track:
I like this example a lot, but not sure why:
This one probably more resembles an ESTj side of things:
Has those essential qualities I think:
Not symphonic, but similar to "game" renditions I guess:
This seems to work on a more indirect level:
Not sure about this one, but it kind of fits:
Anyway, these are just my personal impressions.
This theme has a very ancient, preexisting feel to me, in it's bond between the characters:
Same composer as the last (Gabriel Yared):
I'm already familiar with the Final Fantasy music, I find it interesting that you chose two songs that sound rather "anticipatory" (literally in the title of "Silence [I believe it was actually translated into The Calm] Before The Storm") seemingly subtle but building up to something that never climaxes, at least, in these songs ("You're Not Alone" has a bit of completion, but there's still a feeling of 'more to do'). "Blue Fields" and "The Calm Before the Storm" insinuate travel and journey, slow eventual movement, while "You're Not Alone" is more determined and inspirational because of the scene it was played in. It might be your personal feelings towards Delta, I'm not really sure how it applies to Delta overall as I wouldn't have chosen these songs (then again, I'm not really party to the idea of grouping types together and giving them too many arbitrary qualities). What might be interesting is to find the types of all the characters (again, sketchy, but I can see how this is fun and I might even try using it for literature [which right now includes a focus on video games for me]) and then compare all of their themes and see if a reoccurring feeling comes along with them.
Huh, well I wasn't thinking so much of what the music necessarily had to do with having an "ending" or "climax" as I'm not sure what that has to do with Delta in a musical sense, rather it might be more in some notion of a technical sense, which perhaps you can explain better, and provide your own examples. I'm not really so concerned about the piece having a distinct beginning and ending, more than I'm concerned that it conveys the overall image, but do explain what you want to convey. I agree though that grouping songs to a quadra is a little rough, and to me it's completely subjective because of the feelings involved. That's why I was hoping others could add to it their own symphonic music.

For me, it is the emotional memory of the song (specifically when it comes to soundtrack music) that is focus when re-listening to it, I always make sure I don't listen to soundtrack music before I watch what ti was made for. The purpose of (most) music is to inspire a certain feeling within the listener, and soundtrack music creates an atmosphere with a particular feeling, so I would say that when you're providing such examples, I don't know why the instruments or style of music really matters rather than what the music actually accomplishes. You can find so many ideas in so many different songs within a genre, especially in classical music and soundtrack, that it's impossible to tag a grouping to them. But each song is supposed to have its own message, and that's easier to assign to your own perception of a type.
As for an example... Well, the character in my avatar, Vanille, is from Final Fantasy XIII. I haven't really determined her type, but it is most likely an -creative. Here is her theme song:
This song has a bit of a "walking along side of a path" feeling as well, but is ultimately pensive at the beginning, and then gets more determined near the end, like someone had to pull their wits together and move forward. Though you might pick up on a heavy burden being carried, there's a wistful smile along with it, and if you've played the game, you'll understand that this theme portrays Vanille rather accurately. Now, I understand that effect where you can better sense something after someone tells you about it, but I think you can extract these or similar feelings from the song. What could that say about her type? I'm not completely sure right now, as I just have personal investment in it and I'm not sure what are my feelings and what is something others can see as well, but that would be more pertinent to overall discussion I believe.
To me I guess, the idea was "this music is what I think fits into my own personal idea of the feeling I get" and it also so happens to fit into a delta methodology, which is what I think the piece you posted does as well, though I don't know if its something you relate to more, or if you're trying to be completely objective about it and analyze this specific character. The song you posted isn't something incredibly interesting or identifiable to me, but I see the similarities, and the difference is that it develops into something different and more complete in the end, shows the concept of maturity more technically, and I like that concept a lot, instead of just wavering about, and it gives it more concrete meaning. Some of the music I posted does that too. I agree whole-heartedly with the idea of emotional-memory of music, which seem common, and the music I posted doesn't fit so much a character or scene more than like an abstract notion of the information elements in delta, and the potentiality of the users individual lives. Not sure what that girls type is though, since I don't really play video games, I'm just really interested in some of the talented composers who wrote the music, but I'd be interested in looking at it eventually. I certainly see where you're coming from.
I agree with this. I don't know what I was thinking really, since those instruments were only in some of the pieces, and other pieces featured other dominating instruments than those. Hmm I guess there have been some commonalities in some of this music I've heard is all, and I'm pretty sure that certain instruments were made to evoke certain things, but those certain things are not all related to one quadra. There is a certain color though that reminds me of Delta personally in those combinations, that seem less like the other quadras, and it's more so how they're used. Not much in the objective sense though, you're right.
I think Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is Delta-ish. And I can see the functions working with the different songs respectively. Also, how all of the Dark Side of the Moon songs are connected, and fit together like a puzzle. Great Gig in the Sky, perhaps SLI out of the types, based on the words, si-te and a more or less logical philosophy, coming to terms with death. I get Super-Id Fi vibes based on the instrumental part. And Money would be a te-base song.
Breathe is one of the songs particularly that comes to mind. "Look around, choose your own ground." "Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun..." Thinking of one's place in the grand scheme of things, also having fi-values, and Breathe gives me a vulnerable se vibe about the person who is being sang about. It would be a Delta NF-ish song, Brain Damage as well. "Us and Them" fits with the aristocratic types of the Quadra.
