We want someone to help us do stuff related to our hidden agenda, and we want someone to do stuff related to our dual seeking function for us.
Just a thought.

This would also explain the similarities between types with the same function for their PoLR and their dual seeking function. Take ENxx types, for example. Both need someone to take care of Si matters for them.
Hmmm...
4th: take care of it for me
5th: take care of it for me
6th: help me use it
3rd: help me to not use it
Or perhaps...
4th: take care of it for me
5th: take care of it for me
6th: help me be good at it
3rd: help me to not think that I should be good at it
This may come into play sometimes between an ESI and an LIE, but generally it's more like...Originally Posted by Diana
ESI: "But this could go wrong, or this could go wrong, or we may need to do this, and what about everything else that we haven't thought of???"
LIE: In effect says, "Don't worry about it. I've got it covered."
(Please note that the LIE would most likely answer the possibilities mentioned, not just say "it will be fine" and leave it at that. See below for an example of the type of answers the LIE would give.)
Then after the two have been together for a little while...
ESI: "What could go wrong? Is there anything we may not be considering that we should?"
LIE: "It's most likely that A will happen, but B or C may happen instead. If B happens we'll do this. If C happens we'll do this. The worst case scenario is D. If D happens, we'll do E and it will be okay because of F, but it's unlikely that D will happen because of..."
ESI: "Is there anything we can/should be doing right now?"
LIE: "Hmmmmm... *hadn't thought about it like that*... We should wait to do G until H happens, which won't be for another few weeks, but we could do J now."
But you wouldn't be asking a Ne dominant what could go wrong. You'd be asking a Ni creative. Like I said, the ESI doesn't ask that until after they've been together for a little while and the ESI knows that the LIE isn't going to list a hundred possibilities, including stuff like "a cow could fall out of the sky and land on your head". (Not that a Ne dominant would say that specifically, it's just meant to be an example of something that would be really unlikely to happen and the LIE wouldn't think of.) The what could go wrong question is more about probabilities than possibilities. The ESI assumes that the LIE has the possibilities covered and won't mention anything not worth mentioning. And the LIE exercises discretion in how his/her answer is explained because he/she knows how to avoid alarming the ESI unnecessarily.
(assuming i'm ILE)
