french band air

I can't get enough of them.

When I saw them live a couple years ago they came on stage and announced, "We are French robots. It is night. Time to dance."

I'll listen to pretty much anything with the exception of Country. The whole principle of it is like anti-me.

I tend to like songs more than bands/genres. Some of my favs are:

Portishead:
Tool:
Danzig:
Manna Manna:
Polly

...Is this music Alpha? I think it is. Btw, the video is pretty cool, if you're into these kind of indie things.

haha what the, I was just introduced a few days ago to this band by a friend who I think is the epitome of (irrational) Alpha.

yeah, they seem alpha to me, but I think this song is better:

edit: just watched the video for A-Punk... pretty damn cool!

Thank you Suomea, suprised anyone remembers me.

Oh, I probably should say why I like the tunes.

Portishead (pretty much all their music) brings out the feely side of me and soothes me.

Tool/Danzig - Caters to the rebel spirit within. The songs make statements even if those statements are open to interpretation. This is more so with Tool. Listening to their songs and watching a video is like trying to interpret abstract art.

Manna Manna: Geez, I don't know what it is about this song but I'm attracted to it like a moth to a flame. It makes me think of happy, safe, and carefree times as a kid. Me and my neice even do a duet to it.

I wasn't a particular fan of the songs just posted in between. I don't think they could sustain my attention.

Here are so more I like:
Gavin Degraw:
TLC:
Eminem:
Korn:

Wow @ Portishead. Your taste in music is pretty intense. Also, the wahwah sound is totally Si, though some of the other songs sound Se quadra.

Any idea of what type Gavin Degraw and Beth Gibbons are?

Intense, interesting. I like a lot of this type of music because there is a fluid complexity about it. If I'm just bopping around the house cleaning, I'll put on some pop or hip hop. But if I'm really listening to music, I never listen to that kind of stuff.

When I'm in the mood to sing, I'm going for blues and R&B.

When I'm in the mood to be provoked by music, its portishead, danzig, tool, classical.

I actually think what is often termed as heavy metal is actually closer to the classical genre than any other.

I do like music with messages though even if its an abstract one achieved through provoking emotions through sound.

The New Pornographers

http://matadorrecords.com/the_new_po...ers/music.html

Exploding international,
The scenes, the sounds,
And famously the feeling that you can't
Squeeze 'round,
While tearing off another page of
Loose change outrage.

It's another perfect day,
Until the night shows.

Exploding international,
The wind did howl.
The sky above was thick with rings of smoke,
And clouds,
And hanging on the bleeding end of conscious,
Who's this?
Was there anything I missed,
As far as you know?

Was it all for swinging you around? All for swinging you around?

Exploding international,
The sun, the sights,
The moments you are viewing through,
A beam of light,
Propel you through the golden age.
We crash-land the first page on a crumbling world stage,
Into the front rows, into the front rows.

All for swinging you around. All for swinging you around.

And off your feet,
All the love you found, spinning 'round.
All the love you found, spinning 'round.
All the love you found, spinning 'round.
Spinning Round, spinning round.

We're twisting incognito with no time,
can't talk, can't tell
if this is fantasy or culture shock,
or remnants of a golden age that's near mint unplayed,
or a welcome overstayed beneath the lightshow.

All for swinging you around.
All for swinging you around.
All for swinging you around.
All for swinging you around.
All for swinging you around.
All for swinging you around.

Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.
If you're in this forum to learn something, be careful. Lots of misplaced toxicity.

I love this song too much and kept on listening to it, even though I don't even understand the language. A very emotionally uplifting song imo.

If Radiohead is the great most symbolical alpha band, then I quit. I don't like Radiohead (except Karma Police and Paranoid Android). So overrated though.

Radiohead is Beta, so no need to worry.

I said because I saw all the videos from this topic and almost all of them are from 80'-90' (even 70'). Anway, I didn't said in bad tone, old stuff still great.

In addition to the aesthetic sound, I like classic rock because I usually get a wider growth of musical styles and I already have their full catalog of albums available and do not have to worry about waiting for release dates. And then I try to find obscure indie that way I can stay ahead of the curve a bit.

Something 4 The Weekend - Super Furry Animals

An Alpha song about chillin' out and such . It has the genius lyrics:

I just keep repeating myself...
I just keep repeating myself...
I just keep repeating myself...
which then becomes part of the backing track of the song .

Lazer Beam - Super Furry Animals

The resistance
In the distance
Creeping closer
Have no fear
Land in anguish
We escape it
In our rocket
Propelled spaceship

Take a shine of our lazer beam
And we'll cleanse all the evil within you
(x4)

Human being
Human doing
Human error
Human terror
Human nature
Human hate you
Human crying
Human leaving

Take a shine of our lazer beam
And we'll cleanse all the evil within you
(x4)

We will conquer utopia in space chariots

Take a shine of our lazer beam
And we'll cleanse all the evil within you
(x8)

Point your random finger
Point it to the sky
Point your random finger
Come on and testify
Human kind loves money
We just love to fly
(Fly, fly, fly)
So point your random finger
