A rather dark Alpha film would be Woman Under the Influence (1974).

    Shadows (1959)

what do you alphas think about and rate the following movies? (some already listed, but i want some folks to pick this apart)

If you're lazy, just pick out the alpha movies from this list if there are any, though i'd appreciate a bigger response.

    -casino
    -goodfellas
    -the matrix trilogy
    -the departed
    -gladiator
    -saving private ryan
    -memento
    -shutter island
    -inception
    -Donnie Darko
    -Pulp Fiction
    -Dawn of the Dead
    -28 days later
    -Requiem for a Dream
    -Vanilla Sky
-Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    -Office Space
    -2001: A Space Odyssey

what do yall alphas think of these? interesting that many of these i loved but forgot about and had to look up in MBTI forums (namely INTP threads, which COULD translate into alpha types)

Edit: also, what if you hate those stupid "awkward" type things that supposedly some alphas like? like napolean dynamite and that cheesy zombie movie Cold Bodies? any alphas feel that way?

also hated stupid movies like harry potter and lord of the rings. lol

I think Fellini is definitely Alpha, and my guess would be ENTp. Giulietta Masina is an SEI, as far as I can tell, which would make them duals.

I think Fellini is really interesting to compare with a great filmmaker of the same club but opposing quadra, Stanley Kubrick (INTp). It really highlights the difference in perceptions of time between Se/Ni and Ne/Si quadras. In Nights of Cabiria (unfortunately, the only Fellini I've been thus far able to see in its entirety [I don't live in a cultural hotbed], but probably my favorite film except maybe Vertigo) the movie is composed of a patchwork of vignettes, a group of free floating incidents with little relation to one another. Cause and effect aren't really crucial to Fellini. Events almost seem immutable static objects for him.

Compare this to Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, where, after you've seen the whole thing through, it seems as though the whole movie was a line of dominoes which could only be set up to fall in this order, that every detail was accumulating towards that pool hall scene of Mount Olympian proportions.

Anyways, back to Fellini. The scene in the church in Nights of Cabiria , where the cripple expects a faith healing and falls flat on his face, seems right at home with Monty Python routines, Mythbusters gentle cloying of superstitions, and Bill Hicks' scathing indictments of religion. And what's more Alpha than that ending, in which an impromptu parade lifts a dour spirit, and which simple pluckiness is revered as this Fi-devaluing quadra's highest virtue? Fellini is right at home in Alpha, in my mind.

On a final note, here's a picture of Fellini compared with a picture of Jerry Lewis. If they aren't in the same quadra, I may just scrap socionics.

    I enjoyed the Lego movie.

couldn't decide between alpha or delta for it from looking at the trailer (it was a while ago that I watched the movie). but if alphas say alpha, then so be it.

Overall a democratic themed movie (effective individuals outside of a bureaucratic hierarchy that espouses the belief that anyone from any walk of life, regardless of class, can make a differences and have worth).

More alpha then gamma simply because of the irreverently light, satirical, British style Monty Pythonisque approach to characterization and plot lines points. Fashionable spies? A ESEs dream.

The movie seems like Beta as seen from an Alpha perspective - search for adventure whilst working in a team setting, with individuals demonstrating prowess while solving problems under pressure and standing out based on intellectual or physical merit. Many cheeky comments meant to "show their worth". The theme of personal competition while simultaneously working together. A quadra progression from Alpha to Beta.

The main protagonist might be ILE/SLE. The main antagonist is possibly an ESE (Samuel L Jackson-with a lisp) and the minor villains are Betas (amputee woman with swords for legs, LSI?).

I'm surprised no one mentioned Forrest Gump yet. Spielberg's movies, in general. Many of them have Alpha themes, or Alpha characters. Forrest Gump is a good example. The ultimate Alpha guy, finding joy in historical moments full of problems. lol
