4 letters like INTP mean 4 dichotomies which are same in Socionics, where J/P fits to Socionics direct descriptions of rational/irrational dichotomies. As MBT use dichotomy test as main method and even try to keep match with it close to 70-80%, so not only theoretically but also practically their types fit to socionics notations like INTP = ILI.
The only problem is that they use own theory of dichotomies not always correctly, like in Socionics you may meet wrong typing. So the dude typed as INTP by MBT may to be anything, but if he was typed correctly according to dichotomies and MBT types notations based on them, then he's always ILI.
