white people.... oke, that puts me even further down the ladder
INTjs are close to the worst as well.
I do not mind formal dancing however. It would take a substantial amount of & to get me to dance.
Although if I'm really close to someone, I will consequently be much more loose and physical around them.

I love dancing. I could dance all day and feel refreshed at the end of it.

I can't stand dancing... I'm too self conscious to do it... unless I'm out of my mind on psychadelics. But then I'm too high to know if I'm any good or not and generally don't care either way. I think that's probably the trick to dancing... to not care.

I agree with BionicGoat. White people should be prevented from dancing at all costs. Italians are particularly horrifying in this regard. Also ESTps have no rhythm.

I think it has alot to do with how you were raised though. I grew up around people who danced and listening to music you can dance to. It came very naturally for me. I had a japanese friend who is probably the same type as me but came from a very different environment. He had very little body rhythm for dance even though he was in the school band. Also some people grew up listening to music you dont really dance to (like hard rock, metal, some jazz, some folk etc).

After this, I think it's not type related. The most talented dancer I know is ENFj.Originally Posted by Topaz
I also think that body rhythm is vastly innate and not type related either. Actually Ni types should have a distinct advantage in rhythmical matters. Excerpt from the ENFj description:
Hamlet- executor is always learned on the skill to maintain note and pause, and on the skill to construct his performance on the game of rates and nuances of emotions. (exactly as Hamlet- dancer is always learned on the precise motor coordination, which correspond to the finest musical plastic, and also on the exceptional expressiveness of gestures the Hamlet- dancer has gesture "is revealed" as flower, his expressiveness seemingly it is developed in the time, so that spectator manages him to see, and to understand, and to feel.)

Agreed with the first, disagree with the second. I went dancing with an INFj-Ne once and she was probably the craziest dancer I've ever seenOriginally Posted by eunice

Wasn't there a thread(or a discussion within one), in which there was debate whether or types were better coordinated? And within the thread about how coordination ability was ranked greatest to lowest by: SF > ST > NF > NT? Perhaps there would be information in that thread, if someone were to find it, that could help work towards an answer to this question.
I could only surmise that poorer coordination in general will correlate with poor dancing abilities.
Aren't ENFj's known for their acting ability? If ENFj's are supposed to be able to subtly control their bodily and facial expressions, shouldn't the same acting skills also be able to be used to dance?

Not neccessarily. ENFJs are good with moderating their face and voice but the large group muscles are sometimes given either too much force or too little (weak ) Ive actually taken dance classes with a number of ENFJs. Every summer in NY city all kinds of dance halls would open up featuring swing, tango, latin dances, freestyle, etc. most of the P types would concentrate on the attitude and feel of the dance where as the ENFJs, ISTJ and other J types would focus on the steps and instructions. Specifically the ENFJs would try to get the proper posture and move as instructed and after a time they would get the dance with much effort. "STEP, STEP, SIDE, TOGETHER,..STEP, STEP, SIDE TOGETHER....." The results was often stiff and mechanical until they mastered the movements. After a time they would become graceful, adroit but they would stick carefully within the bounds of what they were taught, self counsciously looking around to see their reflection in others faces. The P types, esp EXXPs would immediatley start moving to the music regardless of if the steps were right. They would observe and copy the basic attitude and rhythm until it just fell into place. Then the next thing you know they are improvising and adding to the dance, trying advanced moves and succeed or fail they would just be caught up in the movement laughing the whole time.Originally Posted by Quirk Satellite Div.

edit: That having been said, I dont think that ENFJs are the worse dancers. Probably INXJs are though. Sorry guys

In general, I'd say I'm a terrible dancer. At times, I do really well. But I have to be in the right mood or something. It also helps if there is some sort of choreography or routine that I can learn, because then I don't have to question whether or not I'm moving my arms in a stupid way or something.
I have ended up dancing a lot though (usually at least a couple of times a week), in spite of my inconsistent ability at it. I guess I must like it, if I keep doing it...
But I guess it's who you compare yourself to, because I see a lot of great dancers out. Compared to a friend of mine who refuses to run even if she's late (because she will fall over), I'm pretty good.
Hi! I'm an ENFP. :-)
How on earth is this type related? Suprised there hasn't been a "what type has the most interesting looking poop?" thread.

Dancing isn't type related wtf.
