    Default Jack Nicholson

He seems like a dynamic (common use of the word) person.

    quotes:

"I worry from the moment I take a job. I worry about how I'm going to do it, if I can do it... Then I walk on set and the director says, 'Roll', and all of a sudden, all of it disappears and it's all happening, and I relax, and I'm doing what I do, and I'm not even thinking about it." - Jack Nicholson

"A star on a movie set is like a time bomb. That bomb has got to be defused so people can approach it without fear."

"For a long time, I was afraid to be alone. I had to learn how to be alone. And there are still times when I think, Uh-oh! I gotta talk to somebody here or I'm gonna go crazy! But I like to be alone. Now I do. I really do. There's a big luxury in solitude.

"I love discourse. I'm dying to have my mind changed. I'm probably the only liberal who read Treason, by Ann Coulter. I want to know, you understand? I like listening to everybody. This to me is the elixir of life."

"I've grown out of talking like I know something when I don't."

"In my last year of school, I was voted Class Optimist and Class Pessimist. Looking back, I realize I was only half right."

"With my sunglasses on, I'm Jack Nicholson. Without them, I'm fat and 60."

"One of the toughest parts of aging is losing your friends. At first it starts quietly, then pretty soon it's every month, and you can't help but think, "When is that bell going to go off for me?" And on top of that you feel this constant loss. At this time of life, you feel just a sword's point from death. It's frightening - who wants to face God and the clear white light? I know I definitely don't. Yet."

"I've never been able to say I've been influenced by a list of artists I like because I like thousands and thousands and I've been influenced in some way by all of them."

"When I come up against a director who has a concept that I don't agree with, or maybe I just haven't thought of it or whatever, I'd be more prone to go with them than my own because I want to be out of control as an actor, I want them to have the control, otherwise it's going to become predictably my work, and that's not fun."

"In this industry, there are only two ways up the ladder. Rung by rung or claw your way to the top. It's sure been tough on my nails."

I'm content with the fact that I made a decent effort. That's what I've always worried about: that I wouldn't try hard enough.

"I've had everything a man could ask for, but I don't know if anyone could say I'm successful with affairs of the heart. I don't know why. I would love that one last real romance. But I'm not very realistic about it happening. What I can't deny is my yearning. I've been in love in my life, but it always starts with obsession that lasts exactly 18 months and then it changes. If I'd known and been prepared for that, I may have been able to orchestrate the whole relationship thing better...But when I'm with someone I've often defied every one of my conventions. I've been so struck I've said, "Come on, let's go, let's get married." But no woman has ever recognized what I say as being legitimate. They think of my reputation, Jack the Jumper. I'm damned by what people think. Now I think I have a gap I won't ever cross."

"I just like art. I get pure pleasure from it. I have a lot of wonderful paintings, and every time I look at them I see something different."

"I have a lot of vanity."

Yeah he types like LSEs I have known well. Truly. Can rattle off a ton of Te Si data more than one ever knew existed, works their asses off perpetually, and loves Si comforts especially cooking on monstrous levels (like feeding an army for family dinner). Idk about Jack but I am commenting of others I know like him to explain a little of why I type this way.

ESFj>ENFj, but I keep thinking about the movie "Wolf" with Michelle Pfeiffer and I don't think I've ever seen an interview.
    EIE, ENFj, intuitive subtype.

I'm fairly sure Shelly Duvall is INFp, having watched The Shining and Faerytale Theatre ( ).

    And just for fun:

Nicholson is probably the same type as Tom Cruise, in any case.

Actually that makes me think that Cruise is likely ENFj too.

I've never been able to stand his fakeness, while all my female friends were mooning over him, i'd wanna grab a trashcan and puke.

I once dated an ESFj who kept bragging about how much like Tom Cruise he looked like (uh, ok )
but when he'd attempt to act like tom...that was going to far. (but at least he got the sincere fakeness down)

EIE is definitely plausible. Probably EIE>LIE, IMO.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Then what is he exactly oh-wise-and-wonderful Phaedrus?

I saw a movie with him the other day with the fam, kinda a cringe-worthy self-help movie about doing the right things in life... think it was called the bucket or something, and I don't know the actual type of the person- but he obviously plays SLEs very well. He seemed to have some sort of supervision relationship with Morgan Freeman, who seemed to be a very clear LII in the movie.

    updated: ENFj 9 sx/sp

He attests to feeling too uncertain of his own working capabilities. This kind of uncertainty is like the red flag that +Ti is not part of his Ego block, but is an area where he is in need of support and encouragement himself.
It is highly unusual for an SLE to complain about something that signals of weak Ti/Te.

Frightening, I'do go with SLE from my memory of old interviews... could watch a couple more if anyone who's opinion I value thinks I'm way off

Now this is a story all about how, my type got changed, turned upside down. Just wait for a minute and watch chatbox right there, & I'll tell how Gem became the moderator with blue hair.

In typology central friended and praised, on the picture thread was where she spent most her days. Chilling out, selfies, relaxing all cool, And all typing some people and getting them schooled.

When a couple of girls who were up to no good, Started annoying her & her friends in the forumhood, She got in one little flame war & got pissed off & said 'I'm moving in with that exboyfriend in the forum with the socionics toffs.

So Gem pulls up to the forum for a year without being a hater, And yells to typocentral 'Yo creeps! Smell Ya later', Became a mod in her kingdom she was finally there, To sit on her throne as the mod with blue hair.

Nicholson played a lot of SLEs in the movies but he's not one in real life. The guy is a total introvert.

ESFp; obviously base Se but not a Ti type at all and so much is wrong with the enfj suggestion that it isn't even worth addressing.

he's a pretty standard conflictor of mine though that does not preclude me from finding him interesting from a distance.

ps: can I also point out that if you ever think "that person might be Beta ST or Beta NF" you just hopelessly and irredeemably suck at socionics. they're opposites in pretty much all observable respects.

The SLE typings seem odd in light of Nicholson's biography and his own statements about himself. Which Beta ST would feel so uncertain and inconfident about doing his work? How would an IEI put up with this much worrying and uncertainty?

"I worry from the moment I take a job. I worry about how I'm going to do it, if I can do it... Then I walk on set and the director says, 'Roll', and all of a sudden, all of it disappears and it's all happening, and I relax, and I'm doing what I do, and I'm not even thinking about it." - Jack Nicholson

It also sounds process>result the way he talks about it. He tenses up when he is in the transition period and relaxes when he is already in the middle of the process. I don't have any opinions on his type-it's too elusive for me-but there are several problems with the SLE typing.

I'm on board with SLE. He's gritty and tough, intense yet unpredictable, his quotes are focused on a realism unburdened by pretentious expectations or responsibilities. He enjoys acting but there is a clear area in which he likes to act and he can be seen as quite similar to the slightly unnerving roles he plays. He enjoys shocking other people but hasn't been known to persuade others in a way that is more nuanced and sublime. I think Beta ST EP-temperament works with the Fe-mobilising.

His expression reminds me of Harrison Ford... they both seem SLEs.

    I liked him in Easy Rider, Chinatown, and he seems really theatrical in all those even though it never occurred to me to type him;
