This is not entirely accurate. This is just something left over from MBTI to make smart, shy people feel good about themselves. It turns out that you can assume that each type is equally distributed among the population, with perhaps a larger percentage of F types among women and T types among men.
Go to http://www.trytel.com/~jfalt/Tables/stats.html and you will see that some types are way more common than others.
