I participate in imageboards, forums, a few Discord servers/Mastodon instances and even the very occasional IRC chatroom. It's a way of supplementing a need for an authentic presentation of self that I find difficult to conjure in real life. You feel more understood than in real life. And the quality and types of people you get to know are totally different from real life... teachers, laborers, programmers, foreigners, homeless, even became conversation buddies with a paleoconservative white ethno-state advocate once. Even if it's mundane I like hearing what different kinds of people's lives are like and what their perspectives are. It's like stories. I like typing and having some time in between to respond and think. Sometimes I get imposter syndrome and feel like people think I'm more interesting or smarter than I really am when I'm really just some bored teen living in a boring suburb with a very average and safe life, but I have very little control over presentation of personas in general, so what can you do?
Betas and Alphas are the best at using stuff like Twitter and Instagram though. Most of that stuff is completely alien to me.
I joined fb because of my IEE asked me to. I use it to sell stuff and to share content with him via pm.
I've attempted several times to use other platforms for business but failed because Its never interesting enough for me and I never post anything. Also I'm bit uncomfortable about the idea to make my face or life public. I don't completely understand why ppl feel comfortable doing it. Like girls doing hours their make up just to take pictures to make a post or going to places just to share where they are. I simply don't get it and mb I'd never get comfortable about it. Before fb, there was another social networking for example hi5. I used it for music purposes. I tried the old random chatrooms but they were usually just full of horny dudes and there was almost impossible to have any coherent talk. I dislike discord because its pretty much talk with strangers and I don't even like to talk or interact with ppl without any clear purpose. I tried IMVU but besides having nice avatars, its basically the same bs. My last try was typology forums to learn more about the topic. Being this forum my longest. Oh, and YT, but yt is mostly for watching vids so I don't think it really counts.
Ime, besides business, F types are the most likely to be interested and use them frequently.

Why should I bother? I find common text based communication towards people much harder.

I use Twitter the most, but mostly dig thru my tumblr archive and tweet pics. Tumblr was the other social media i used a lot, so quietly sharing art seems to be my jam.
I don't actually socialize on it, but I like to creep on other ppl socializing, idk 👀 maybe this forum works too, lol.
Facebook is more like, personal, so used more sparingly. Only to share if I actually leave the house, lol. I might scroll thru once a day briefly to react to a few things 🤷
Anyway, social media kinda matters during quarantine lol but I don't want a lot of followers on Twitter bcuz it seems like drama in ur life with no benefit. I spend 5 minutes looking at it a time, a handful of times a day. So I'm not really plugged in problematically, but enough to understand the connotations around the word "problematic."
Anyway, esi
I left Facebook back in 2017, I think. I remember I was 18, in my first semester of college, when it became a ‘big thing’. 2005? At first I didn’t feel comfortable posting anything because the whole thing seemed really weird and foreign to me. But eventually I did and grew more and more comfortable posting stuff. Then, eventually, I saw how much damage it caused, and got sick of it, which was why I left. It seemed too toxic to me. I also had/have a Pinterest. Well the reason I add had is because it’s still there but I rarely get on there anymore. At first I really didn’t get it, what the hype was, but then I started posting similar things to other people (fashion, recipes, hacks), and it wasn’t my thing really. I noticed some other people had aesthetic story boards, so I erased all the other stuff to be replaced with my own aesthetic vision. And I pinned a lot, obsessively. But the reason I don’t get on my Pinterest anymore is because I have so many boards on there, I can’t remember where to put anything now. The vision I had is lost, like if you’d start writing a book 10 years ago, put it down, and try to come back. It’s hard. So I picked up tumblr, and at first I wasn’t a big fan because it didn’t have categories, but considering how my Pinterest has the plot lost for me, its becoming the thing that I like best about it tumblr, because you can just jumped back into it. I had Instagram for a short time, not a fan. I made a twitter account but never posted anything. This site is the only social media I really use because I don’t talk to anyone on any other site. I was on allpoetry(?) for a while, but I got burnt out. And a few genealogy sites that I don’t really get on anymore.

I think for some on social media, the higher the anonymity, the higher the sense of freedom.
Whereas, if you show your face to people IRL, you feel this sense of obligation to like people's posts, convey a certain image, agree/disagree with certain things, hold back, etc. Also the fact that your sense of privacy is invaded; it's kinda weird that people you barely interact with now all a sudden has access to your personal life. I think that in itself can cause a lot of stress to some.
On the flip side, social media can be used as it was intended; as a tool to reconnect / share with old friends and family.
I use Instagram (rarely), this forum, and sometimes check Quora but never write on it. I stopped using Facebook and haven't regretted it for a second. It didn't help me feel connected to anyone that I wanted to be connected to, and most of the time it felt like looking at ads of people's lives rather than their real life.
What I like about social media like this and Quora is the chance to read people's stories and hear different perspectives, especially around topics I'm experiencing myself. I like knowing what people are really thinking, feeling, and experiencing.
I appreciate Instagram for the pretty pictures and ability to make stories. I know an SLI-Si who has a beautiful account where every post is thoughtful, aesthetic, calming, beautiful. She's a graphic designer and has an eye for beauty.
When I was on Facebook it seemed like the ESEs I knew were most prolific. I think it's related to instinct, too, because they were all Social first. They would narrate their daily life with multiple pictures a day of what they ate, where they walked, what their kids were doing. It seemed to me like a person's season of life as well as their dominant instinct played a big role in how much they were on social media.
I see almost no posting on platforms like Insta and Facebook from INTx types. There seem to be a lot on Quora, though.
I may deliberate for minutes on end for how I want my text to read, but at least I don’t risk looking like a dingleberry, unlike when I have those moments where I lose my train of thought in face-to-face situations.Originally Posted by Sanguine Miasma

However, the thing eventually changed as I started to get used to it, to the point it turned out to be an addiction as a compensation for not communicating with others in real life, or being a completely shut-in nerd who didn't do that thing which is called "social interaction". The one that impressed me was that I talked to some others who happened to share their life (and of course, I didn't!) on private messages and replied them constantly. But now, it's over. I currently participate on Discord as a moderator (quite) or members and have been active in some servers. I also do have an instagram account but I rarely use it unless I hunt for anything to kill boredom, try to be productive or when it really is important to message someone since I don't have any social media platforms beside of those. I don't use twitter or facebook and completely blind about tiktok.
And one of them used to be yahoo messenger back in the old days, when I was 5. So, kindergarten it was.
As for your question, twitter really suits Alpha, while Beta probably works for something like instagram, for example. Gamma would just use whatsapp or any social media to fulfill their Te-Fi needs. And Delta would just use something quiet like uh, telegram (?).
Uh, I don't know, I don't care since I don't use those at all except for whatsapp, if only it counts as one.
And Discord simply is being used by everyone, no matter the purpose.

Just to share more thoughts on this topic: I find kind sick how the use of social media has developed recently, I feel uncomfortable about how kids are growing to imitate what they see there and to think the behavior they see in there is normal. For example, a lot of underage girls are posting pictures or reels showing a lot of skin or dancing in a sexual way, then the only fans stuff that most of the time is mostly prostitution and porn. I hate how this is being normalized and seen as acceptable that young girls show their body and face to get some rando's likes as if that were something normal and symbol of not being a looser. I think this is just a way in which society is accepting and promoting pedophilia while just taking advantage of this whole generation. I have even seen parents taking those pictures to their daughters in public places so they can post those pics later. Its disturbing.

I flip through fb & Instagram more than I post. I used to constantly post on my fan page Twitter I made for some celebrities I like in high school & a little bit the first couple yrs of college. I haven't posted on Twitter in yrs now. I'm currently about to redo my whole Instagram page (no pics up right now) & make it look all vibrant & cohesive.
I’m friendless and not cute so I just have a finsta for following models and clothing brands that I like. I used to think I was above social media but I'm really just afraid of rejection

i had to make a facebook to use the class group chat for school announcements
its fake and i dont post bc i'd get harassed
befriended some ppl by randomly messaging them bc they had weird accounts or no pfp, which could indicate they wouldnt need to worry much about the possibility of writing me something personal and me sharing it to others
facebook allowed me to check my ex physics's teacher's profile to confirm that he was a psychopath
instagram to follow and check hot ppl, other ppl and share stories in dms
twitter to follow artists
quora to show ppl perspectives and spread my muscle function stuff ,
i thought i shouldnt share anything on social media bc my friends could potentially get concerned or make assumptions about me.
some thoughts:
-twitter doesnt allow long things,
-instagram is restrictive in image size which messes with what i want to post and how much effort it would take and they didnt allow u to post from computer if u hand't used it on a phone,
-quora is trash to navigate and organize ur own things, it took me years to figure how to post without answering a question despite using a search engine, and i dont even know if that option to post had been available for me in the past

I don't do social media unless you count this place. I am here out of mild curiosity and another link to the public when society seems to want physical gathering to go extinct.
If I had my choice computers wouldn't exist. I think they do humanity a disservice just as tv does.

There are special methods to promote your account; is there anything wrong with that? Yes, it may not be very pleasant because it has already become obvious when someone uses too frequent promotion methods, but still, I think we should treat this more tolerantly. Not everyone can develop a promotion strategy, which is normal. For example, I have been trying one scheme for about a month to gain subscribers in tiktok, but nothing works for me. As a fallback, I will use the Social Media Specialists service to gain my first audience. So I advise you not to condemn what you do not do yourself and do not know how difficult it can be.

Tumblr is an EII digital country.
ILEs are the ultimate meme lords in my experience. They have that Ne zaniness and don't really take it seriously, they do it for the laughs. I've seen quite a few on Discord as a result. Their kindred spirits have a more grounded version of their humour and are in a lot of linguistic servers in my experience.
I've noticed a lot of gamma NTs in business-related forums and "total independence" circles such as FIRE.
The recently published MasterCard Digital Sharing and Trust Project report explains how consumers behave online, what motives they are guided by, and what types of "digital consumers" exist. Using this data, retailers and marketers can better understand their audience's behavior and find the most appropriate ways to interact with consumers. Choleric and sanguine people are the most active in social networks. They use services such as famoid.com to cheat followers and actively use online stores and other modern services.

I used to use facebook for roleplaying as characters with other people who'd make fake accounts as characters too, before ID verification became a necessity and I noped out of that. Beyond that, I only started to use twitter when I started to become more involved in fandom side of things over there too, and I've been using tumblr for years, though it's once again more reblogging stuff I enjoy, and occasional word vomit over things I care about.
I basically enjoy being online so long as things can stay anonymous and it's connecting over shared interests with people who enjoy similar content too, and I'd probably just nuke them if anyone I know IRL (sans like three people in my close circle) finds any of my accounts, even if a good amount of things I share on them for the most part are things I'm already open about IRL too.
Don't care for it, also don't care for onlyfans, discord, twitch, tiktok or whatever. Never understood the appeal or obsession. It's a completely foreign concept to me. I assume that more and more ethical types move there for socialisation as our society becomes more and more individualistic and impersonal.
idk, me personally:
I've always hated Twitter... and the changes they made recently to it I hate it even more, how it bullies u into joining the stupid site so it can track u even more when I just want to spy on that person's page. I made a Twitter account way back in the day just to make fun of Twitter, where I mocked celebrities etc.
I like Instagram okay - I guess maybe cuz its like looking at Se images thing I don't know, but I still don't go on it very often even tho I kinda like it.
Facebook- I didn't mind this one much, but people did seem very Fake and me and my family call it Fakebook. I haven't used it in a long time tho.
Discord - I hated this at first because the name sounded too edgy like 'it's cool to spread discord' and I kinda ethically thought it was encouraging bad behaviors and the Moral EII Prude in me was like 'ew' but once I used it.... I don't know, it's probably the more best/Karen-thing one for people but it also feels transient until the next one comes along...
These social network things come and go it seems. they're too Te that way really. Anybody remember Yahoo messenger in the 1990s? Lol it was so ghetto and raw...
I used IRC way back in the day.... and had my own Buffy chat room. I think it might be rather common for IEIs to lead/or at least be moderators online. I was moderator of #Comic Chat Help when I was like 13 years old lol. Cuz IEIs suck in the real world, but the internet is magical and so we're the boss.
I might go to another forum from time to time but for some reason I come back to this place.
I started using my instagram properly a couple of months and I’m kind of just biding my time until I have my looks and lifestyle together and can DM some of my old work crushes who are out of my league currently. Don’t see the utility of it otherwise - I have nothing going on and I don’t care for the content that most of the people I know post
I also have two finstas: one for shitty photography from the handful of times I’ve left my house over the years and another one for shopping, memes, hobbies and thirst content

I used to use facebook mostly because it was the way by which I was maintaining contact with family members outside the country. I stopped using it three years ago after an incident with a unhealthy person who harassed me. So I thrown out the bath ducky with the bathwater. I used to use skype for a while (2013-2015). Now I have whatsapp and 8 persons in my contacts list all family members and that's it.

I’m a social media junkie. Engaging in the virtual world is a sort of escape from dealing with mundane reality.
