I think I once read somewhere that people tend to unconsciously treat women better. That said, I don’t know that I treat adults any differently. I do tend to treat younger girls who seem scared or nervous with a little more friendliness.

Probably women, if just because being too friendly to a man might give off the wrong message.

    With kids probably equal.

If it's a stranger, initially I treat women "friendlier" than men, only because meeting strange men triggers my fight or flight instinct. But I put it in quotes because that's not really friendliness, just an outward expression of emotion. When it comes to people I know personally, I treat both the same.

Others' behavior is going to reflect back in one way or another.

It is a lot about predisposition and stuff as well as how the other link in pair is able to be chameleon (in the way themselves want it and are able to adjust in particular transformation) or are prewired for it. Given these conditions it is easy to see why men might treat women better.

I'm nicer to men. If I was too nice with women, they would probably think I'm interested in them (it happens though). That's why I have a stern attitude with them. And I avoid the traditional courtesies (holding the door for instance).

It might be a bit weird, I can admit that.

    Bonus anecdotes :
I was about to leave a room. At the same time, a woman, a fellow colleague, tried to enter the room by the same door. We were face-to-face, and she expected me to move. I did, but with a big sigh of discontent. She didn't talk to me that much after that. Fun fact : I actually liked her a bit.

Another time, I'm in the tram. It's mostly empty. At a station, a pretty but discreet girl comes in. I hope she won't come near me. But she decides to sit right in front of me. I was very annoyed by that, and, although I wasn't demonstrative, she saw it, and got a bit angry.

I think I’m nicer to women, but in my book, that might look like being paternalistic, which might not actually be nicer.

I would love to be able to treat women exactly as if they were men because I truly believe in equality of all people, but I was trained early to a very different world and it is very hard to break that early training.

My pursuit of equal treatment isn’t helped by the difference in testosterone levels in men and women, which makes a significant difference in the average behaviors of both sexes.

But equal treatment under the law? Absolutely.

Equal treatment in the workplace is harder to achieve because men compete and women tend to collaborate, which can make women seem like weak competitors and hence you don’t have to pay them as much. This is true for weak male competitors, too, so it is best to have a public system of pay grades, like the military.

I would really hope there's no difference, but who am I kidding? Does gender have no affect on me at all in interactions? Highly doubtful.

I don't know, since obviously it depends on the person, but I think I enjoy talking to women more. They are often more emotional and it's fun to play off. But it kind of makes me less nice to them, since I'm more open and genuine about my feelings.

Men, on the other hand, are often a little more threatening and serious in general and I'm more wary around men, so I make more of a conscious effort to be nice, lol.

I treat everyone the same regardless. Male or female don’t make one immune to stupidity.

Men tend to be more arrogant and argumentative in the first place so I tend to react accordingly. Plus they're less sensitive and probably don't care as much if you're "nice".

Depends on the person and the situation I guess. I am adaptable that way.

I am sometimes mean to boys.
