Being naive, needing money, having an Sx stacking, being SEE, having sex to connect often due to difficult bonding experiences (aka shitty childhood)
Often it seems to be a mixture out of high Se, low Ni and not being able to choose the right company while being left vulnerable by unmet needs and bad authority figures in their childhood.
being an e-girl makes more money. One would have to be dumb to get into porn as it does not pay well in comparison.
Mental/personal issues
Laziness + greed (money), exhibitionism, unresolved childhood trauma (neglect), the decline of religious values (postmodernism).
There are those who are truly sexually free, that must be nice. The product of extremely healthy and supportive parents.
People work in porn because they want a paying job and for whatever reasons are not working as brain surgeons, cyberneticists, or astrophysicists. (Although astrophysicist Brian May worked in Queen, which was very close to porn.)
OnlyFans models probably do it for financial independence and because they have the constitution/body for it.

Trying to imagine hordes of simps going nuts over me is scary. I can’t really imagine the mental state I’d have to be in to willingly expose myself to it. Even if I were to get paid, I think my sanity would be damaged. My best friend, an SEE professional actress does not porn, but non-lewd live-streaming and can support herself with it; idk how she does it.
I’d be okay with filming it with a partner just for ourselves to look at and analyze after like a football match in slow motion, but it would devalue the experience to share it with others.
There was one woman who had gone through artistic training at uni and wanted to do her artistry in that business.
Plenty of reasons it seems. Well, exhibitionism is probably required.

This is almost certainly going to sound deranged, but I'm sx-first and I actually need people. Real, live people. If I'm not around people in real life, I tend to fall into a deep depression. COVID-19, of course, has kept me at home most of the time and limited how much interacting I can do in real life. As I slowly sank below the waves in those first few months after enforced isolation began, I realized that I need the impression of people, at least.
I first tried listening to the sounds of conversations in a coffee shop in a video on YouTube, but that wasn't doing it for me. I then tried having the pictures of people I know on my desktop, but that really wasn't effective, either. I don't watch movies or TV, and most Youtube videos are not substitutes for human interaction.
But, @sbbds, I could easily see that, if I had a female SEE to watch and interact with, even slightly, from time to time, I might hew closer to sanity in my daily life. She wouldn't have to do porn at all. Just seeing a human face in real time is therapeutic to me.
I had an ESI friend of mine visit for about half an hour last week, and I was more normal after that conversation than I've been in many, many months. She, on the other hand, probably felt like she just encountered Robinson Crusoe just after his restoration to civilization. A man who was starving on many levels. Lol.
An honest exchange of your looks for money is more honorable than the behavior of a wife who ditches you.
Mainly, should be similar to reasons of prostitution. Significant part of them may to have both.
With Internet, more of exhibitionists may appear. Also. The ones who wants public attention. Or even to share by something useful, alike bloggers tell about their interests. There are nudists - it's close. These reasons may develop in a quantity, especially if the culture will continue to popularize surface sexuality and individualism, instead of deeper love feelings.
Types examples: video bloggers, actors
I want to start an onlyfans for the money and the validation. I probably won't ever do it though.
But I have to say that I admire people who are really comfortable with their body. And some of them seem to enjoy sharing that. It's a sort of talent in my opinion. I don't think that it has to be linked to a mental issue.
I'm almost the polar opposite of this. I can choose to be a complete hermit for years—no social contact, no sex, no pet—and not have it affect me too badly. It'd suck eventually, but I can do it and have done it to varying extents. I'm "Self Pres." if that means anything.
Because they are sluts and have a fetish for being sexually degraded; the money and attention thing is just an excuse.![]()
you say that with internet.. but I was in a situation where I had no internet and no significant contact with other people, just surface level stuff, like small talk at the uni during the day.
Instant depression! It took 3 months to get really bad. IF I have no-one to seriously interact with on a more deep and meaningful way I go bananas and I'm perfectly comfortable avoiding being social in a broad sense.

there's a myriad of reasons why someone would do porn- just like with anything else. as long as ppl are being respectful and everything is consensual then who cares

Have to disagree, i am very introverted in a neurological sense, still i crave connection the same way as Adam describes.
Introversion and Extroversion is about how easily stimulated your nervous system is and how many outside stimulation you need, it is a different area than the psychological need for a deep intimate connection.
I always assumed people starred in porn mostly because they enjoyed doing naughty things in front of the camera. I wouldn't think the job is generally very well paying, although I could be wrong.

Money that is more lucrative than other low-skilled work, attention/validation, and internalised male gaze/desires dressed up as liberation/self-expression. Which one is most motivating depends on your circumstances in life. For most sex workers (globally), it's solely the first. For most 'first world' sex workers, it's a combination of all and sometimes predominantly the latter two.
If you have your own unique selling point you can really rake in the dollars.
1. Be young and have daddy issues
2. Get into porn and make lots of money doing it
3. When you get too old: drop out, become conservative, anti-porn and pro-life and make money lecturing about how porn is bad and exploitative
4. Profit
Ironically porn has a lot of dry Te/Ti-ish? professionalism to it. You are going to be interviewed by a lot of people to make sure you are in the right frame of mind before it begins- few people want a lawsuit or to have negative attention on them or have the Sex Police after them lol. Real sex is often wilder than porn even when porn tries to be wild.
You have to do a lot of paperwork and legal work to make sure everything is consensual, and of course it's going to be heavily watched by the Feds to make sure kiddies aren't being involved in it. (which of course should happen) It's actually really moral and stuffy in this sense. Even when it seems so animalistic and spontaneous when somebody spits in somebody else's face for sexual pleasure, you don't know what 'behind the scenes' stuff was done to make sure the people involved were okay/comfortable with that. (cuz it would obviously ruin the Se rush if that was always talked about it in length, but they do it on that one rough bdsm site probably because it causes moral issues for some people.)
So I don't understand the moral crusade against legal porn. So bizarre to me. There are plenty of other real sexual abusers where that sort of moral outrage would be more appropriate. Although it's selling a fantasy, there's so much professionalism and work going into porn. Ask any real mainstream professional porn actor and they'll tell you that. Why don't you do porn yourself? (general you, I mean) Because you're morally better than a porn actor? lol. That's highly debatable and quite frankly up to God to judge. There are different levels of nice-ness/cruelty/levels of morality in porn actors just like in any other occupation. And that's what it is essentially, an occupation.
For women it used to be the case that usually the traumatized ones got involved in porn.
But now downgrading females in porn has become the norm plus performers were introduced into the mainstream and glamorized (whats-her-name the blonde with big hair, dead now. Among others). So even well-adjusted girls have learn to erotize their submission and degradation and consequently apply for the postion. There are still some traumatized ones and other who are traumatized during the span of their ‘careers’. Counter narratives have appeared but they still play the game of being one among many and this results in the validation of mainstream porn.
Personally, I don’t know how any woman can walk into this industry knowing it’s the brainchild of men. Lack of healthy pride, maybe (sparing the more problematic cases).

Advice to anyone with a friend who did porn, regrets it, and is afraid of being recognized: tell her to grow a moustache (but not a 1980's porn stache).
It's fun

In addition to what's been mentioned - money, failed relationships with males - I think it is also ego driven... being the center of attention makes a person feel powerful, like their social value is much higher than everyone elses. They can imagine themselves from the outside perspective, where everyone longing for them. They probably get sexually aroused by that. Also, there's the intra-female competition they feel like they're winning by getting the most attention and resources.
Considering the negative effect it has had on society... young boys watching it everywhere, new generations having so far fewer relationships, the way it causes early erectile dysfunction, mirrors addiction in the brain and so on - they also must either not realize the negative effect this has had on many young boys and men, and continues to have... or simply don't care. So ignorance &/or narcissism has to play a role as well
Money.
It’s a high paying job with no formal education or training requirements.
I've been coaching quite a lot of girls for English speech contest the last couple weeks, and I can guarantee that it doesn't come naturally to that many really lol
Then again these are Japanese middle schoolers and culturally just tend to be less expressive, so maybe that's all it is
