Mostly Beta vibes with a few cool Alpha world building NeTi and Gamma capitalistic power structures. Cyberpunk, high tech low life trust no one lifestyle wouldn’t exactly conjure earthy humanitarian Delta aesthetics.

I’m just talking out of my subjective ass tho. But I think the harsh dangerous dystopian world of cyberpunk would benefit Se/Ni type assets more.

Cyberpunk supposedly represents late stage capitalism in the final fusion of state and the bourgeoisie, with some neon signs added to the mix. I’m not sure you can assign Socionics elements to that. Purely aesthetics wise it conjures up Beta for me.

Alpha music something weird like polka or mildly hopeful sadness or naturally upbeat moments with reflective pauses about surrounding world. Usually theme is focused outside of oneself less about personally becoming something. Just what I gather. Quite evaluating position.

I think in general alphas are pretty into aesthetic alternative fantasy worlds, so that aspect is very them.

Steampunk seems mostly alpha to me. Historical look with funky old machines; Si and Ne. Tech stuff seems Ti. Industry could seem democratic / Te though, so could match gamma and delta in those ways too. Beta eh.. well betan steampunk revolutionary historical figures, maybe.

Cyberpunk seems more beta to me, with some alpha in there too. Again tech is more associated with Ti. So is symmetry. Sleek and futuristic looking is more Ni-Se usually. Harsh dark and bright neon colors and high tech weapon brutality. It doesn’t look nostalgic or “comfortable”.

Cyberpunk has beta elements. Like the name implies, it's basically rebellion against evil corporations that control the world. The aesthetic is Se/Ni > Si/Ne.

No idea what to think of it. But I used to get a lot of karma by posting cyberpunkey things on reddit and pinterest. It's a theme I personally like. High tech, low life.

If I was asked to differentiate them, I'd say Cyberpunk is Gamma and Steampunk is Alpha. Steampunk is "Victorian" and that always felt "Alpha" to me. I get the appeal, but it never really interested me as much as Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk is all things gamma IMO (thus probably why I love it so much). I mean, what's more viscerally identifiable to you? A steam-powered golem seeking to be called human by others as it seems to have gained the ability to feel emotions, or a "full-conversion cyborg" seeking to retain what they feel to be their humanity that everyone tells them they have despite the fact they are now, officially in all logical senses of the question that matter, a machine imitation/mechanoid facsimile of biological life?

No way - it's not Alpha. I understand the reasoning - sci-fi, speculative fiction, and so on. But the whole idea of cyberpunk is a criticism of capitalism and dehumanisation of business corporations, and the like. I would think this is a very Beta quadra thing.

That one time I tried my sorry-ass hand at poetry in high school and was forced to do the same in a couple of clases in my first year at college, all that came out was stuff like phenomelogy of time and perception or experiments with formalism. No need to become anything, no tormenting feelings either. I’d imagine more serious alpha art travels similar roads.

I think what I want to get at is not mainly the technology part or the aesthetic, which are gr8.. but more at the essence of I guess struggle and survival against overwhelming odds in dystopian nightmare complete with the raw horror & brutality of it. Even IRL today I'm prone to third rail politics, its just something essential to who I am. To resist, adapt and overcome.. to impose my will and vision on reality. Its a very us vs them kind of thing, no real desire to conserve the old either.. I think its rather BETA.

This song kinda cuts to the heart of it for me:

Victorian England is not alpha. It is Delta quite clearly. Steampunk is kinda judicious in general I think. Cyberpunk is very dark and uncomfortable comparatively I think. I'm willing to go with a beta v gamma theme for cyberpunk. Clockpunk has been interesting me lately, that I think has a strong alpha feel perhaps. We should also type atomic punk, Dieselpunk, Biopunk, and solarpunk. The Cypherpunk movement is very alpha I'll say https://academy.horizen.global/histo...punk-movement/ .

Cyberpunk is NT like most science fiction.

I never thought of it as specifically alpha NT though - but I do think the aesthetics of alot of current Hollywood films appeals to alphas, a movie like Blade Runner 2049 seems alpha NT in terms of aesthetics. The original Blade Runner much less so. Note that I am talking about purely the look and feel of the movie, not the themes, story, charachters etc.

PS: I love 2049 personally, including visually, but I don't see it as gamma in terms of aesthetics, and to me science fiction is very NT.

    Steampunk seems more Delta.

I think Cyberpunk is Ti-ego in general. I know some Deltas who try and pull it off and it just looks awkward in my opinion.

I like cyberpunk aesthetic but more like the tech and futuristic aspect. Something cool about laser guns, high-tech suits and spaceships.
I really like the picture posted above about Alpha and exploration. @karas
The dystopian/political/capitalism aspect is crap. Very Beta thing. Also its relatively new because original sci-fi is not dystopian.

I like older science fiction like pretty much anything written by Isaac Asimov (ILI). Very imaginative stuff for his time. No dystopian elements as far as I recall. I liked the way he imagined future technologies like materials. There was a technical background to everything so he didn't just pull things out of his ass like a lot of sci-fi today.
Hitchhikers Guide is also excellent and basically my ideal universe to live in lol. Douglas Adams is ILE almost dead sure. The randomness and the british humour in his books are just so good lol.
