re. spirituality, I used to be religious, and I often feel tempted to join a religion again — convert to Islam, maybe. I can’t force myself to believe something I know can’t be true, but I feel like it’s going against my programming, in a way.

In what way?

It’s very hard for me to put in words. It’s probably related to growing up in a religious environment and shaping much of your early thoughts to what you’re told. Something like an urge to pray and an impulse to dedicate everything I am or do to a higher cause/deity.
