If idiots would just stay home and quarantine for a few weeks this will go away, but all the malls and restaurants still have a lot of people going to them here... They deserve the virus, fuckin morons.

Cov-19 Infection is worse than you think.
Fun fact: COVID-19 stays active on surfaces for up to 3 days.

I heard about that claim too, but an expert in the medical field corrected that statement. He said: 3 days, might be, but under laboratory conditions only, far less likely under typical everyday conditions.
E.g. UV radiation from sunlight shortens the time span.
So you're saying it varies under different conditions.
As the summer approaches, we'll probably get a decrease due to UV radiation. I heard from a tow truck driver that once the fall approaches, we may get a new wave. Hopefully, by that time, we will have a cure or preventative.
Living with Coronavirus Symptoms & Treatments ( from the perspective of Dumas ?)
The mandatory shutdown and european travel ban are necessary moves but Trump is too little and too late...the mysterious Wuhan Flu now inhabits all fifty states, casualties mounted up in Washington State and a town in New York lives under quarantine. The important piece of the puzzle is that in COVID-19's still contagious incubation period individuals present as asymptomatic (carriers look, talk and act in a healthy and normal manner):
"In addition, the asymptomatic incubation period for individuals infected with 2019-nCov has been reported to be ~1–14 days, and after 24 days individuals were reported, and it was confirmed that those without symptoms can spread the virus..."
Transmission routes of 2019-nCoV and controls in dental practice | International Journal of Oral Science
Such findings had been well-researched, well-known and well-documented by the time that Trump was drastically downplaying COVID-19 on both Twitter and national television. This is not a case where Trump can say (like dubya said about invading Iraq) he was just acting on the best information at the time. The necessity for and justification of a mandatory shutdown and european travel ban (that we're seeing now) was well-established even before the first American casualty. Trump's delay in acting constitutes a fatal error in judgment.

Economic outlook for the coming months: https://mainlymacro.blogspot.com/202...-pandemic.html
Fuck, it hit me today at work.
Employees were arguing with management all day about someone testing positive next door to our business and how a lot of people have been getting sick or coming to work with a cough or fever; and they made a decree that if we're sick we have to stay home and that they'd threaten legal action if we didn't...but we still have to go to work if we have no symptoms and they won't pay us if we are sick and stay home wihtout any sick time.
The city just closed the beaches where I'm at because all the spring breakers were hording along the beaches.
I still don't know if I had the disease or if my mom is going to contract it from me in the coming week. The city isn't taking it seriously and still aren't doing anything significant about it or even testing enough people. Only if you have serious symptoms or you were in contact with someone that had the virus or if you traveled lately will they test people...
And I keep hearing about layoffs and recessions because businesses can't handle the loss of business. And the place I work was already losing business and now I'm concerned about 2008 shit and possible having to find a job in that. And it feels like no one is prepared or has a handle on this. And I'm not the type of person to take most things seriously, but I hate this. WTF seriously, it's really fucking stupid. People have had to cancel vacations and fun outings and everything is just really suck now.

I may not have a PHD in economics like this dude, but I think that's kind of short-sighted. Even a small macro loss will have a large effect on the micro economy; loss of revenue will cause highly competitive businesses that can't afford to take straight losses for many months to cut their costs to stay in business. This effects investment losses, demand for jobs, and availability of jobs. This kind of thing leads to recession...even if it ends up being short-lived.

I had many of these symptoms recently and fortunately I didn't come down with a heavy case of pneumonia.
I'm relieved that my city is taking the threat seriously because I believe it is serious. One of my managers has come down with something, along with one of my roommates. I'm still experiencing mild symptoms.
A couple weeks ago, I called around and spoke with a few doctors about my symptoms and what the doctors could do to diagnose me. Only the major hospitals with access to state testing measures could test for COVID-19. This means that the confirmed cases in my area had to go through a very specific bottleneck to determine their status. Meaning that the confirmed cases are of a very small sample of the general population. Meaning that, if the population has an even distribution corresponding with the sample, the number of cases is far larger than what the news tells you.
yeah, who was prepared for this? when a hospital has to deal with 1.000, 2.000+ cases of intensive therapy all in a sudden, you can see how crazy it gets.
I think there's some serious omission from many countries, including China. in proportion, Italy's run more tests than China. and it's days that I'm reading of people from all around the world that are having symptoms and can't seem to find the way to get tested...
is that convoy really because of the virus? I think is not.

The internet is full of conspiracy theories about the coronavirus. A kind of logical explanation from the speaker (INTP / Balzac).

Have the Chinese officials found any animals or meat infected with this particular coronavirus at Seafood City market or entire Wuhan?
Actually she makes sense. INTPs like to predict things.
Yes that the convoy is because of the virus. The Italian military is helping their medics to dispose of dead bodies that have to be cremated. See the slideshow from Italian news source: https://www.repubblica.it/cronaca/20...51650969/1/#14
'A generation has died': Italian province struggles to bury its coronavirus dead
"Hospitals have adopted more stringent rules regarding the handling of the dead, who need to be placed in a coffin straight away without being clothed due to the risk of infection posed by their bodies. “Families can’t see their loved ones or give them a proper funeral. This is a big problem on a psychological level,” said Ricciardi. “But also because many of our staff are ill, we don’t have as many people to transport and prepare the bodies."
Yeah, I live right outside NYC. The spread has been getting bad here the last 2 weeks or so, but people keep going out and acting like nothing is wrong.
I think that map is totally accurate, but that's just my opinion. She said herself, we need more data to verify. So far looks like she is correct though.
Most people still think it is just a simple flu. No, it is not. It is a special virus, which has flue like symptoms at the beginning. It may or may not develop into severe pneumonia and kidney failure.
Certain percentage of the patients requires machine for breathing. Risk factors are old age, overweight, smoking, chemotherapy treatment, allergies, compromised immune system.
