Michael...SLE-Se 8w7-5w4-3w4 so/sp
-Napoleon was the model for Michael's character in parts 1 and 2. He and napoleon have the same personality. Napoleon was noted for having intellectual prowess, as was Alexander the Great (who excelled at philosophy), so that doesn't make him an NT....it's more how the characters do when they are thrust into the highest levels of competition. Michael has a desire to compete on a big scale, from when he joins the Marines to fight in the war to his volunteering himself to shoot McCluskey in the head at the restaurant. Michael is drawn to positions of leadership. He competes with ultra confidence in the cutthroat, rough and tumble environment of a mafia war and as the target of a senate investigation like he's done it a million times before. He takes on huge projects and is ultra ambitious. He has an expansive drive to increase the power of the Corleone family by making it legitimate, gaining control over more casinos and eliminating anybody who gets in the way. He also never wavers in his determination to prevail in the mafia war. He's gutsy and asserts himself in the face of anticipated rejection with ease. See the scene where he tells that girls' angry father he is going to marry her. He has a cognition for force/motivation (what they will do in the immediate future and who did what in the past). The scene at Pentangali's hearing reminds me of when Donald Trump paraded Bill Clinton's accusers into the debate hall with Hillary. Corleone brought in Pentangali's brother from sicily. As a result, Pentangali couldn't bring himself to be a rat on Michael with his brother staring right at him.
Sonny: SEE-Se 6w7 so/sp
-I can't see SLE. Sonny was inept at competing and prevailing in rough and tumble, cut throat environments. Competing at the highest levels is where SLEs thrive, especially if it involves war. Remember what the Don said, Sonny was a lousy boss. He couldn't lead his way out of a paper bag when it came to heading the family. Sonny ends up falling apart when handed over the reins to lead the Corleone family through a mafia war. He doesn't have any grasp for strategy and tactics. His wavering determination to win causes him to make moves that sell-out the family's interests.
so/sp 6w7 works for his enneagram type. Naranjo calls type 6 the pugnacious bulldog. Sonny has a pugnacious temperament (lots of "assertive bluffing"), he has issues with authority, empathy for the underdog, and is masochistically dependent on others. You see how his empathy for his sister Connie and devotion was exploited by enemies of the Corleone family to walk him into a death trap.
Michael is a lot more willful and aggressive. Sonny didn't have the willpower to break out from his father's shadow and carve out his own path in life, Michael did. That was meant to be highlighted in the early sequences of the movie and at the end of part 2 where Michael decides to join the Marines.
Tom Hagen: LSI-Ti 9w1 sp/so
-Super-loyal and vigilant...He delivers a number of the dark instructions from Michael or Vito to others in diplomatic double talk. But he also favors peace. Remember, Michael takes Tom off as his consigliere because he says Tom isn't a war-time consigliere.
Senator Pat Greary: LSE-Te 6w5 sp/so
Vito: LIE-Te 8w9 sp/so
-Vito is way too competent and involved in/at real world activities like business and management for an IEI. He is hard and stoic and has no preoccupation with artistic creation. He has a perfect grasp for political maneuvering and knows how the world operates. His decisions are based upon sound business logic...he's always calculating and playing the percentages. Ni/Fe would be oblivious to such matters and routinely indulge in the expression of soft emotion. It would have made for a more irrational character if Vito were IEI.

LOL, what about Appollonia? Muuuhnday Tuesdaaay Wednsesdaaay
Kay?
Vito always struck me as very gamma.
When I read the book, particularly the part about how Vito first killed the corrupt policeman who was preying on his fellow immigrants, I thought, "That guy is doing exactly what I would do in his circumstances. I completely understand what and why he is doing that." He also found an enforcer to do the everyday Se things that he had trouble with, and bonded him with loyalty and the unspoken threat of rejection. So LIE-Te e8 for Vito has always made sense to me, even though Brando himself is SEE.
He also has principles. They just aren't society's principles.

I'd probably kill McCluskey and Sollozo in Michael's position, however that doesn't make me an SLE. I'd probably kill Fanucci too, like Vito did, but that doesn't make me an LIE. However, I'd prefer to play the consiglieri role, like Tom, using my brains and presence as leverage (not to say Vito and Michael didn't use their brains), rather than brute force to get what I wanted. If I were Michael I'd also want someone like Neri who was completely loyal and willing to carry out the dirty work.
These films are pretty popular but I have a feeling we can somewhat gauge a person's basic temperament by which characters they identify most with. Having had a sister who dealt with her own domestic violence scenario, my actions in that situation reveal I would not behave as Sonny did. My instinct was to first keep out of it, then to gather as much information as possible and think of possible contingencies and reactions. Sonny was a hotheaded idiot. I'd never make him acting Don.

I definitely identified most with Vito. I remember how he "dressed down" in his meeting with the new drug cartel to show his lack of respect for them. He also underestimated their Se. He basically did what I would do if I grew up in a much more violent and free time, especially if I were an immigrant.
Arriving in a new country gives you a sense that you have complete freedom to do as you like and a strong drive to establish yourself in a safe position there. Vito worked to do that at one level. His son, Michael, was able to build on what he was given and work it at a higher level. Michael's speech to his fiance about the govt killing people was very aware. It basically shows how immersing a person in an environment early gives them an advantage later.
