I eavesdropped on what I thought was a SEE-ILI pair at sushi train once. Really compelling dynamic. One was an ILI, very pretty, not well dressed. She talked for at least half an hour about this documentary she watched about ocean crabs. The SEE was sitting beside her and all over her, constantly touching her in some shape or form while she had her arms crossed and leaning on the table. He asked questions about what she was talking about at intervals, brought in personal anecdotes and Fi-ish insights on mutual friends at certain points. Even when they deviated from the crab documentary she came back to it.
He'd constantly pressure her to eat this or that, offering compromises like "I'll have half and you have the other half." At one point he needled her to try mochi for 5-10 straight minutes. She said no over and over and over again. Then she finally said yes and ate it. At no point did she seem even remotely irritated by this behaviour which I found shocking - just eavesdropping made me pissy.
If it wasn't for the last sentence, I was going to tell you to mind your own business. Me and my wife are ♂IEE and ♀SLI Duality, respectively.
Also, it was a wine tasting train, not some imaginary sushi tasting train.

Interesting! The reason why I thought he was SEE was because imo an IEE wouldn't be so aggressively persistent without feeling guilty about it and wouldn't want to be aggressively persistent - he seemed to enjoy it. The IEE-SLI dual pair carefully respects each other's boundaries; there's no overt exertion of force, playful or not. The reason why I thought she was ILI and not SLI is because SLIs change topic easily. Gamma NTs have this tendency to persist on the same topic even after their partner has tried to change it, which I personally find endlessly frustrating - iirc Stratiyevskaya has some interesting stuff on this.
Tell me again why you thought you were on a sushi tasting train when the train was a steak and wine tasting train. I'm sure all of the Gammas would like you to explain.

Incidentally, this is true for me. I will sometimes start out on a topic, make a long loop around to fill in the background, and then return to state the conclusion. My LII sister and a friend were listening to me one day, and her friend became impatient at my apparent wandering through seemingly irrelevant data, but my sister just told her "Wait for it. He'll get back to the topic."

It's something I noticed from my gamma NT friends prior to reading this article and I remember postulating that it had to do with being somewhat insensitive to Fe and being Ni>Ne - a preference for following one train of thought to completion instead of hopping topics, maybe? - so it was nice seeing the observation echoed in The Literature.

It's Jung's type, which is used in MBT and Socionics. There is no such thing as special "MBTI typing" or special "Socionics typing".

I see now. Well if you want to go universal you might want to refer the types as SiTe for example. Or NiFe. From spending type at forums I just naturally assume all big letters, INTP means MBTI and with one small Socionics, INTj. The three letter is good too.
But I still do not agree with your typing, david letterman. I tried SiTe for him but he does not strike me as such a type. Si is usually referred to as sensation, internal being calm and balance with body functions. I never find him to focus at sensation in that way during interviews. When he interview johnny he seem to be able to let johnny open up and be more free with his expression, express his true personality. When with jimmy it look like they work against each other, almost disturbing the peace. It is not a good flow when the interview seem to be one large interaction but from time to time they restart the interaction almost. Looks like it from my POV.

It's confusing how you peg an Introvert-Introvert match as either Duality or Semi-Duality. Those relations are exclusively between an introvert and an extrovert.
Also, this thread is mostly about couples and perhaps close friendships, not really some random interview situation in a talk show...
Having said all that, I believe Johnny is ESI-Fi and David is LSE-Si, so ironically they are actually Semi-Duals.

This picture made me go, "this could be my dual & me". The smiley SEE guy is distracted by some tangible phenomenon, the reserved ILI woman is focused. If you look closely, she's actually spaced out and not completely present. The logical/ethical & introtim/extrotim divide is strong here.
Also, the posture: SEE is going somewhere, maybe "stealing" (heh) the ILI woman aggressor-style and glancing over his shoulder like, "look what I did! Oops, somebody wants her back and is coming for me". (Because his eyebrows are arched = surprised).
ILI physically is the victim of the theft but not mentally, she keeps her mental composure ("I am kidnapped but not bothered at all, I low key love it") as indicated by the 75%-pokerface and the way her arms are wrapped around him.
(My other theory would be that SEE competes in a sports race or chase and carries ILI for some reason, considering the brand)
