Default Your reasons for being on the forum

Why are you here ?? I'm not asking why on "this" forum and not on another , it's cool enough . What makes you be active here ? Exchange of information , communication with new people , escaping boredom ... what ??

What do you gain after time you spend here ? If you take a break , what makes you return ? Do you ever regret it , feeling you can do something more productive with your time ? Are you just going with the flow chatting with others online ? Is it a real "profit" you get here ? Talk about your motivations. Why you like being on the forum and if it's a well - thought decision that's in a way part of your life , your lifestyle.

I return here in a hope that these minds will assist me in some form with my thinking that all things must make sense (long term), that they must forever accurately connect and not contradict nor be tangled, they will have long term meaning & consequences and be true to what we are, have been and are to become.
The minds here hold hope for me that humans are open enough to overcome, learn and adjust, invent and always know that there is more.
I see the emotions and thoughts shared here and respect each individual (even those I have personally struggled in some form with). I am thankful for the sharing, thoughts, theories, stories and your life, for what is taught and what is learnt.
My quest before my body and mind's time is up is to...'understand all'...I realize that this quest will not be met here on earth as I presently am but I attempt my best with my limited abilities.

Im just here to get somebody pregnant behind the middle school.
Projection is ordinary. Person A projects at person B, hoping tovalidate something about person A by the response of person B. However, person B, not wanting to be an obejct of someone elses ego and guarding against existential terror constructs a personality which protects his ego and maintain a certain sense of a robust and real self that is different and separate from person A. Sadly, this robust and real self, cut off by defenses of character from the rest of the world, is quite vulnerable and fragile given that it is imaginary and propped up through external feed back. Person B is dimly aware of this and defends against it all the more, even desperately projecting his anxieties back onto person A, with the hope of shoring up his ego with salubrious validation. All of this happens without A or B acknowledging it, of course. Because to face up to it consciously is shocking, in that this is all anybody is doing or can do and it seems absurd when you realize how pathetic it is.

I am here to learn and to observe. I check the forum a few times a week to look and follow developing threads in order to find key pieces of information that make the model clearer. I chime in when my knowledge has reached an applicable point on a given topic in order to pay it forward. I am weary of a lot of members typings and try to locate and identify reliable and consistent sources. Luckily this forum is rather small so the focus on socionics remains relatively strong.

I am here to post random things, that annoy random strangers, on the internet, who have nothing better to do than get annoyed with random strangers, posting random things, on the internet.

I initially discovered this forum back in 2009, intrigued by a unique and meaningful interaction with someone that approximated the description of duality. It was a non-romantic, professional interaction but did later lead to romantic feelings (perhaps unilateral from my end only, perhaps mutual... i wont ever know).

Anyway, since then, that particular interaction has become ancient history, but i've stayed for a number of reasons. It's a fun past-time; it engages me intellectually, it's fun to see things playing out in real life (or not playing out). Sometimes it's not so fun to see . I've also found that this kind of hobby tends to attract intellectual people in general; the fun and interesting conversations that can be had here (socionics aside) is like a drug. This is what currently keeps me coming back for more and more. There are precious few people in my off-line life currently, with whom i can have these kinds of profound, thought-provoking conversations with. The lighter conversations here have also been fun. This forum has also been an outlet for things/events/people causing me anxiety over the years; this is a community where I feel safe baring my embarrassing moments or thoughts or insecurities. I know i'll find a supportive ear and comforting words and/or count on being set straight into reality with honest criticism, and/or great advice for whatever it is that is troubling me. I like to do the same for others here too. It really does feel like a family.

To learn and have fun at the same time.
Important to note! People who share "indentical" socionics TIMs won't necessarily appear to be very similar, since they have have different backgrounds, experiences, capabilities, genetics, as well as different types in other typological systems (enneagram, instinctual variants, etc.) all of which also have a sway on compatibility and identification. Thus, Socionics type "identicals" won't necessarily be identical i.e. highly similar to each other, and not all people of "dual" types will seem interesting, attractive and appealing to each other.

well, considering the site is frequented by some members who are happily spoken for, i would hope not.
It's one of many reasons not to turn this site into one.

that some people find love interests on the forum is a separate matter. That can happen in any collective.

Yeah, in every forum I have been part of (quite a few over the years) I have seen people get together and a lot of long term relationships or marriages were the result of meeting irl. This happens everywhere, like in support groups too like NA/AA and churches. Often the common interest draw people together who may have never spoken to each other at a bar or other large social gathering that did not focus on an in common interest.

There is always a bit of truth in every joke....
I am sure there are people with less naive point of view here.
A typology site where intertype relationships are in the heart of analysis...
I am sure some use it to hunt, may it be consciously or not.

I can VI someone in the first second I meet them or see them. I give them a typing within my own personal code since I was born. I would love to learn more about people and to do this and talk type with others, I needed to have a common language. The problem is after 7 years of studying socionics online, I have never been able to confidently translate my personal typology into socionics. I keep coming on here in some weird hope to finally make that bridge! I know if I could sit for even an hour with someone in person on here who is good at VI like me, and we people watched together, seriously just an hour, I could absolutely understand socionics. I am a very intelligent person, it seriously bugs me at this point that I can't quite get it after all this time! LOL

great, now I'll be thinking of this image of you cpreeply smirking in the dark every time I post sth here :S

to answer the OP I came here to study socionics at first. between school, work and personal life my progress was that of a snail pace. now I come here in addition whenever I'm up for some procrastination and need a distraction. it's easier work on my assignments if I take a break and occupy with something else. I don't run into dead ends where I can't think of anything to write and fall into bored stupor. and this is what the forums are for!

In the first place I'm here because I don't wanna rape my friends with nerdy socionics (nobody gives a shit :/). I also got seriously addicted to the drama and trainwreckery.

Most people I hang out with are also pretty level headed and more conventional, so I can't talk or joke about all the topics I want or be as honest as I'd like. My need for meeting new (interesting!) people is also difficult to satisfy (it's always the same old conversations and small talk) and over the internet it's easier to meet like-minded folks.

All in all, this is the place where I can let my Beta flag fly.

Edit: What I noticed and I don't like it, is that I started to socialise a bit less since on here (it's like »do I wanna spend two hours talking with my girl friend about Oscars red carpet or do I wanna joke about baby rape? Oh, I think I'm going to pick the later« lol.

I really just want to be able to write anonymously about my perspectives without being ostracized, labelled weird, or it affecting my employment. I would not be willing to write on Facebook or discuss in public, much of what I write on here and other forums. It's a way to be about as free as I can be. As @darya; mentioned, where else can you joke about things like eating newborn babies for breakfast?

Oh, mostly to vent and pick apart sth.

Idk.. sometimes with reading stuff, I’m really afraid of this fallacy of thinking just bcuz socionics, that you can predict something. Like you have this thing going on - trying to understand sth. and idk... trying to not make really stupid mistakes re. your life? So it’s like always like trying to look forward, but not too much?

Because I really believe this line, that you have to live life forwards and understand it backwards, as shitty as it sometimes can be, bc when you slip too much into thinking you can look ahead, you start to not experience things/people anymore.

I also think, that’s what I’m really afraid of regarding people, if I would start to take this too seriously. Like reading these things and the associations start to form and then you might not experience someone really, you just project all your ‚expectations‘ outwards and believe you understood something in another person.

    Hmmm...

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE
