You also type many 9s IEI. 9s dislike conflict and usually have trouble asserting themselves. They repress their anger. It aligns with Jung's Si. (But surprisingly you rarely type 9s Si dominant)

Jung’s description of the Introverted Sensation type, from the original version of his typology (pre-Myers Briggs) correlates well with e-type 9 and what I’ve termed the mytho-animative function. He even goes so far as to (inadvertently) illuminate the nature of 9w1’s “shadow wing”, Type 8.

“Actually he lives in a mythological world, where men, animals, locomotives, houses, rivers, and mountains appear as benevolent deities or as malevolent demons. That they appear thus to him never enters his head, though that is just the effect they have on his judgments and actions.
He judges and acts as though he had such power to deal with; but this begins to strike him only when he discovers that his sensations are totally different from reality. I think you might be disillusioned about socionics if you are going to dive into enneagram because it covers a lot more. Every type has with them an impossible issue, for example 3 wants to be the best, the most attractive, beautiful, 6 wants to be safe at all time and wants to calculate how things will unfold to avoid risk/danger, 9 wants unpleasant feelings to begone (9 is the one that represses anger the most out of all, and if you repress an emotion it gets bigger and accidentally slips out sometimes, thats what happens with 9s. My father is a 9 so I'm familiar. When I was young he would sometimes take out his anger on me and my sister (with violence). But when looking at him from another persons perspective he appears soft and harmless. When he got into a conflict with a stranger he would either avoid it or go at it with passive-aggressiveness. He's conflict avoidant so he feels other people's aggression distinctively. When I slightly raise my voice he tells me softly to calm down.
That you apparently type 9s with Fi lead is a problem since 9 avoids taking strong stances and prefer to "be in the middle" (accepting) with everything whereas Fi is supposed to have a strong moral compass.
The typical "empath" thing is such a 9 thing (I think it's cause 9 needs to feel everyones emotions and states in order to prevent conflicts etc), and also symbolism is related to 9. Jung was a 9 himself.

Subtypes

Self Preservation Nines

• Often preoccupied with physical comfort, maintaining routines and satisfying appetites.
• Exceptionally good receivers and appreciators; the best things in life are free
• Grateful for what they have and treasure it
• Can be reliable, dependable and consistent
• Specialize in a defense of small horizons
• Self Preservation Nines are especially prone to diminish their own expectations, to not quite hope for much out of life-a defense against disappointment
• Could be financially well-off but have a self-image of someone poor or destitute
• Distract themselves with pleasant domestic activities. Live conservatively
• Consume food and drink for anaesthesia. Tend towards addiction, especially to numbing substances, smoking pot, overeating to the point of stupor
• Can have a love of the minimal and enjoy the repetition of known routines
• Sleepy; may be slow moving, lack energy and be physically lazy

Intimate Nines

• Loyal in love; patient and enduring; able to stay steady in long term relationships
• Realistically see their partners limits but accept them
• Good listeners; supportive non-judgmental friends
• Often focused on an unconscious ideal of romantic union
• Nines with this subtype are sometimes mistaken for Fours because of the way they can melancholically yearn for what they don’t have
• May have high expectations of romantic partners and be prone to jealousy
• Often this dynamic represents a yearning for a distant parent
• The ideal of romantic union blocks out the real relationship. It is a way of staying disengaged from your priorities, a distracting obsession
• Find their attractiveness and self-worth in how others see them
• May idealize people while deleting their flaws; could tolerate being mistreated or abused

• Nine with this subtype enjoy group process and will work hard to facilitate a group purpose or mission

• Could feel like the group’s emissary; no better or worse than those they represent
• Especially able to mediate, to speak to all sides in a conflict and find common ground between warring parties
• Gravitate toward groups but feel conflicted about fully joining them
• Enjoy a group’s energy and interests but are aware of the group‘s expectations
• Can lose themselves, immersing themselves in a group, trying to become all things to all people
• May play the role expected of them but stubbornly resent it
• Could also use the group as a barrier to keep the Nine from facing her own priorities

Nine with an Eight Wing

• Healthy Nines with an Eight wing have a modest, steady, receptive quality
• Charged by the dynamism of Eight; can have great energy and force of will
• Get things done, make good leaders and have a personal magnetism of which they are only partly aware
• This wing brings a stronger internal sense of direction; when they decide on a path of action they may be impossible to influence
• Relatively fearless and highly intuitive; take their work seriously but not themselves

• Often have a sense of mission, public or private; work hard for the welfare of whomever they are committed to. Good with detail
• Unpretentious yet dignified; generally empathetic, have the “common touch;” An elegant simplicity of manner and speech
• Can be well-liked, modest, endearing; gentle yet firm. Some have a striking quality of grace and composure punctuated by bursts of spontaneity and sweetness

Nine’s Connection to Six

• This connection brings Nines courage. Where healthy Sixes develop the courage to do, Nines find the courage to be.
• The connection can usefully shake up a Nine’s complacency. It helps Nines challenge their fears and take risks, expose the inner self that they usually disguise and efface
• The connection to Six brings tenacity and stamina – a willingness to see things through, to work faithfully away at tasks and commitments with a committed perseverance.
• Brings an idealism, sense of responsibility that stirs the Nine to action.
• Realistic, more able to acknowledge what can go wrong. If Nines tend to minimize and Sixes exaggerate. unable to ignore being upset, useful self- doubt

• A stepwise strategy for taking action and completing tasks in the real world
• This connection also helps Nines with appropriate social presentation. They are more willing to dress up and voluntarily play roles in the service of goals. They can also have a sense of propriety, be well-groomed and have good manners
• Healthy Threeish Nines can find freedom in role playing and the connection to Three can bring acting abilities as well as a talent for mimicry
• Distinct tendencies towards role-playing and hyperactivity as a distraction from their basic sense of non-being. A busy form of self- neglect, an active laziness
• Threeish Nines can go false and be defined by a milieu, playing roles based on the expectations of others

A 9 fix can make someone act pseudo-victim without being so

It's good way to return their favour after they were offenced and stoped normal communication.
When E-9 has base Fi - has high compassion to pain of others. If you say them "sorry" - they forgive you much easier. Especially should be effective with ESI - that reminds them duals' submissive behavior and makes their heart warmer.
When they are not Fi ego - when you excuse - you show youself as "below", that have no aggression - this helps to return the communication as E-9 stoped this because you have scared them.
When E-9 points with anger where you was "wrong" with him. This means E-9 is in really bad mood and near to break the communication. It does not matter were you really guilty or not, - just say him "sorry" to reduce the risk of breakage the communication. If you'll argue your view - he may just break the talking - he was in uncomfortable emotional state before and the discussion or the understanding he was wrong may to make him feel just worse. Some later, after the excuse now that you made him upset, you may softly explain own view. To argue or explain when E-9 is in bad mood is also unproductive - he can't listen you good at now.

If it's possibly - do only light, neutral or cheerful, good mood offline communications with E-9. Do arguing, criticism or serious talking IRL, or do it very softly, carefully, less directly, slowly. As you can't control good what emotional state they have, but this is critical. Before any criticism it's useful to excuse beforehand, so E-9 was prepared and was more indulgent to you. As they are the most easy to feel offenced and are the hardest to return the normal communication.
If E-9 feels sympathy to you, - check how he softly talks with you. It's the style which he prefers to be talked with him by other people. Copy this style as max as possibly. This will support his trust to you, staying open and sincere with you.
E-9 are very kind and loving people, but they are extremely touchy. The pain they feel from others makes them ruder with others. If you see E-9 became ruder, notice what you did wrong and do not repeat that. Though, sometimes E-9 look talking or acting with lesser tact being in good mood and feeling sympathy to you. It's not from lesser respect to you - but from higher trusting to you, they just behave lesser restrained like kids, they are open to you in those moments. If you see them in cheerful mood, behaving with more impudence and meanwhile asking something from you - treat them like kids, - give them what they want or apologize and decline very softly, as if you'll directly reject their request - they'll feel deeply offenced - like they were opened to you and you've betrayed their highest trust to you. E-9 behaving lesser restrained with you while showing sympathy - is the sign of their friendship, they perceive you as good friend and are ready to support you in almost anything. E-9 are potentially the most loving people and best friends you may find, as they establish the least interpersonal borders with their loving ones - they may understand and accept you deeper than anyone else.
Though do not expect this obligatory will lead to the same level of support in actions - they'll more care about your psyche state, will support on emotional level, will give advices and useful info, will try to understand, accept and share all your life views and emotions - this may lead or not to further actions. Psyche of E-9 is too easy to be overloaded by negative, they know this, so where it's possibly - prefer to keep away from any negative what may be linked with actions, meanwhile having highest compassion to you and in critical moments will help you definetely.

I think all you have to do is eliminate the roots of fears and you automatically stay out of a 6 shift, which is conducive for productivity. 9s have unusually high tendencies towards fear based decisions and it makes self assertion and action considerably harder... It does work in some instances, as it makes your actions all very low risk, but it's otherwise inhibiting, at least in this "earth meta". 9s are one of the weaker enneagram types in terms of power right now, but this can be assuaged by becoming secure and sitting in the 3 range. It really all begins with eliminating sources of fear, however. This is critical

The main tendency of E-9 is love to people. They see this as the way to peace with them, and then to inner peace.
This makes the problem as they see it. As with lower self-borders they are easier to be hurted or to follow people against own interests. Also conflicts between people near create psyche tension inside of them as they try to intoject them all. Such they highly affraid any negative from people or a communication with "wrong" people.
The lesser developed E-9 is - the more he seeks for emotional comfort in a moment relations, moment opinions. Instead of deeper and sincere relations, where he'd need to accept the other one more and also to show and explain about himself more to be understood, to help the other to accept him deeper - such to achieve better balance of interests between people and such stop feeling the emotional discomfort. It's harder process, while to feel offenced of any negative and avoid communications is easier.
To reduce the fear they need more mature love, where they accept the others deeper to the degree where can't feel offenced on them and are sincerely opened to others to help them similarly deep to accept them. It's true love - full and unconditional acceptance and trust between people. While undeveloped E-9 try to stay somewhere in the middle of it.

I'm sure that duality would help a lot to E-9 develop. For example, F types with rising T and such becoming more reasonable, would lesser processed conflicts by emotions, better understood their reasons, easier would see the solution and felt lesser hurted and offenced, in general.
