Its the other 5% that become serial killers! Just kidding but thats a good point. My nephew was a very bad tantrum thrower at home but in public he would control it (sometimes). He did have trouble speaking though. My sister took him to a speach therapist and his speach improved greatly and his tantrums went away too. He must have been very frustrated. I can understand the idea of children expressing frustration at an inability to communicate, but I also know of kids who do it because they know their parents will acquiesce just to end the tantrum. Either way, I find it unhealthy to simply allow the child to continue the behavior. Children shouldn't establish the pattern that a tantrum is acceptable in adult society. Children are adults-in-training, and should have certain expectations of behavior that require the child to advance in maturity.

And for Jadae: I'm fairly sure I'm dominant, and I'd prefer to avoid either extreme. However, given the choice, I'll choose hot over cold.

Well I agree that a tantrum can't "work" for a child in that if a child is tantruming because he/she wants a toy, the parent absolutely can NOT buy a toy. I don't think that means that you have to punish for them, but you can't give them something for it either. I just took my daughter away from other people so she wouldn't annoy them, and then let her go through her tantrum until she was done. I'd just sit there and wait. For a while I carried a paperback book in my purse in case I had to wait a while. But I never gave her anything after she had a tantrum - we'd just go on with our day.

I think there are natural tantrums, just from frustration, but if something like that happens kids can learn how to have "fake" tantrums to get stuff.

I can see the difference but I've been around a lot of tantrums. And as a child I was the QUEEN of them.

I cannot stand people getting upset / shitty over small things all the time. I mean we have our bad days, but people who make a big deal out of nothing need to RELAX

...just a random selection, but you probably get the idea. There are cities and towns where the entire town/city centre looks like that. (Bombed flat during WW II and rebuilt in a hurry.) On the whole, it's like a root canal operation on your soul.

That applies to the UK as well. I don't know one building built in the 60s that should not be demolished.

This might be a world-wide thing. I've seen some damn ugly buildings of that period in the US. Ugh.

Luckily the US wasn't bombed so there are plenty of older buildings as well. My town is mainly art deco.

You must live in Florida! I love the art deco style. As for Germany, I see your point Cat. HOWEVER, on a brighter note its a paradise for a muralist All those plain walls just waiting to be covered in trumpe l'oeil.
OR it had to be like that so there could be a renaissance of creativity and expression years later . But yeah I know what you mean
