I think it seems like a pretty Beta take on batman which is nice since Batman as a concept is very Beta and isn't usually approached that way.

Found a perfect allegory/metaphor for the modern world. A pity the second season goes off the rails instead of staying the course and remaining a rather faithful adaptation. If y'all haven't heard or "The Promised Neverland" I'd give that first season a watch and then pick up the manga where that left off.
Switch the type of consumption from physical to spiritual and that's what makes it a spot on allegory. We are already living in that kind of world. The "promise" forged in the horrific aftermath of the world wars (which were engineered I am now totally certain) and we are all the ones that got sold down the river. I'd elaborate, but that'd spoil everything rather completely. It's good. Give it a gander.
