This may or may not be pertinent, but this thread left me thinking the following: When I hire someone to do a job, I determine what tasks I want them to do, whether they can do those tasks, and whether they will be able to do them reliably and without me needing to micromanage them. That means that during the hours I pay them, they are focused on what I am paying them for. What I especially hate is someone needing me to correct them for things that are a given with any job: being on time, giving ample notice if they cannot be on time or present and know it in advance, and doing the actual tasks they were hired to do. Suggestions for doing things differently are welcome, a wide range of personalities is welcome. Someone viewing me as a big old meanie just because I happen to be the one doing the hiring and paying and whatnot is not so welcome.

Most bosses I have had or have known do not relish bossing people around. They want people to do their jobs as described in the first place without having to waste time on the basics.

And when I have a boss, I remember that it's great to have a boss, because anytime I know that my neck is on the chopping block, I can go to them and shift responsibility upward.

If I were repeatedly told I had an attitude problem, I would try to figure out what I was doing that caused me to get that feedback and correct it. Sounds like a big waste of my time--others' time and my own. No one has to be Prince Charming to get a job done unless that is part of the job description. You also don't have to agree with how things are done in order to do them.

    Improbable , but it's a good suggestion.

    .
That is exactly what it is, and nothing more for better or worse.
