I didn't think my first post would get such a rabid response.
My experiences with NLP/E-Prime and linguistic manipulation with people that have undergone cult indoctrination gives me a distinct experience on how people have used this technique. I'm just putting it out there. Without a doubt cults have been attracted to it and techniques like it for various reasons. What surprises me is how how aggressive some individuals have become in the conversation due to the different views.
"I tend to find this sort of stuff like prohibition on using certain words thing as exercises like yoga/meditation."
I mean I said this at the beginning and it's how I think of this, there's nothing wrong with it, yet people keep reading it like that.
You're not a cosmic idiot for using "be" or whatever it is people are talking about.
Well, even deaf people who rely on a visual language system like ASL organize their experience through language. Languaging is subtler and deeper than words. Images can be as much of a language as words. Unless you’ve been completely deprived of language (like Victor of Aveyron or Genie), your experience is definitely affected by the language you use. Heck, studies of children with incomplete language and also aphasics suggest that we need language to think certain thoughts and execute certain acts of logic. By your very ability to think of such a thing as a “visual thinker”, you’re using semantic and symbolic constructions particular to certain languages.
Okay then.
Then refrain from asking me. These are not the answer you are looking for.
@Ashton, I don't think I will ever get back to you, so don't raise your hopes. There is lots to discuss, and like I said, I only posted here to talk about a certain part of the theory (?). I'm not interested in desputing it, really. For all I know, it could be true. But the path that it takes to get there is not for me. It's too loose, for a lack of a better word. I'm against many of the underlying principles that allow for E-prime to exist and as such I cannot take it seriously.
Oh, he's using "to be," this means he's not brainwashing.
GOD IT WAS RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF ME ALL ALONG
Seriously though, do you not see how your line of shoddy reasoning you use to critique E' can equally be used to find Bruce Lee's teachings suspect? Just, please, be objective, is all I'm asking.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies...

Are you Roman, Ryan?

I've changed my typing of Ryan to XEI, Dunning-Kruger subtype.
Somewhat.
I see. And your previous post, "Your ability to have an argument without having a stance of any substance is truly fascinating to me." What are you talking about? Where is that coming from?
Holy shit, this is the first time someone disputed my typing. I guess, I wasn't controversial enough.
I've changed my typings as well. I'm doing socionics.
Funny how such a harmless thread like this evolved into battle-typing, once again.
Heil Socionics, Heil Caesar.
I would like to know whether or not some of you people think about socionics when relieving yourself. Hkkmr, there 'be' a cult
Lungs knows what's going on. I hope.

No, but I am well aware that you're trying your darnedest to troll me, and are failing miserablyI'll keep that in mind. On an unrelated note, you're very gullible, aren't you?

Really? I've already changed your tone and made the subject of our conversation about you. It doesn't take much for me to trick you. Keep that in mind next time you talk about such trivial matters such as E-prime when you fail to even account for a small amount of what it teaches.
