This is actually a random section of book shelf. Sadly you cant see the best book "Cachorros." I think the oddest thing is probably the Italian translation of an Icelandic play. The first Left Behind book is also on that shelf. haha

this shelf seemed the most appropriate because its the only one that isn't alphabetized and so has the most variety. it has old schoolbooks and a few i haven't read, though.

I had *no* idea that Nightmare Before Christmas was a novel. Or did they just get a crumby ghostwriter to write one based on the success of the film?
It's not :S I just have a few DVDs mixed in there because, for the most part, it's arranged by size.
Kind of did annoy me, though, when they had someone write a book based on the Series of Unfortunate Events movie... which was based on the actual book series.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

okay. i never read it. i admit it... i never even opened it or knew that it was a difficult book.
as you can see, my books are left-overs from tweenish boy fantasy series (the sort where the orphan finds out that he's the wizard king and must grow into power over the course of 10 novels), sci-fi and cyberpunk, and textbooks, manuals, and sciency stuff. Generally the state of the book reflects how many rereads it's gone through, with some to the point of near tatters.

It's difficult as hell. I once attended a philosophy course in Heideggers Being and Time. It was interesting, because it is supposed to be "fundamental phenomenology", but really complex. It's fun to read out loud some paragraphs from the book though, because it can be totally incomprehensible. I have noticed that ILEs tend to like Being and Time, though. Maybe they even understand something.okay. i never read it. i admit it... i never even opened it or knew that it was a difficult book.

I don't have a book shelf :/, my kitchenet is pretty bare.. atm. I wonder what motivates us to collect and display the books we've read?

I'm not going to throw my books in the trash. I reread many of them. Nor am I going to throw them on the floor or keep them lying around my kitchenette. Hence: bookshelves.

I sold half my books at the time for increased space earlier this year and the current lot are in "piled storage."Do have a pic of my old bookshelf somewhere though, possibly maybe.

I don't really own many books because I get so much from the library, but this shelf has some of my favorites. I haven't actually read Thus Spoke Zarathustra or The Picture of Dorian Gray, though.
You can safely skip Thus Spoke Zarathustra if you're older than 15 and you don't need to read it. Do read the Wilde though.
I don't have a bookshelf nor books in paper form.
Unfortunately most of the books i've read have been returned to the public library.
Odd Thomas is my favorite novel.
Projection is ordinary. Person A projects at person B, hoping tovalidate something about person A by the response of person B. However, person B, not wanting to be an obejct of someone elses ego and guarding against existential terror constructs a personality which protects his ego and maintain a certain sense of a robust and real self that is different and separate from person A. Sadly, this robust and real self, cut off by defenses of character from the rest of the world, is quite vulnerable and fragile given that it is imaginary and propped up through external feed back. Person B is dimly aware of this and defends against it all the more, even desperately projecting his anxieties back onto person A, with the hope of shoring up his ego with salubrious validation. All of this happens without A or B acknowledging it, of course. Because to face up to it consciously is shocking, in that this is all anybody is doing or can do and it seems absurd when you realize how pathetic it is.
