Sometimes these people exist because they got lucky. Like Chris who just did something so outrageous that everyone noticed. Mostly though, you know that youtube comments section? Well youtube does have a thriving and supportive community that really helps each other be creative and succeed. A lot of these people are a result of that, sometimes people are one-hit wonders, but for the most part youtube stars are decidedly not an accident. They are a product of this wonderfully supportive community that somehow manages to exist in the veritable middle of a social shit-storm. For the most part this community has become incredibly adept at ignoring the haters, and listening to their other youtube friends. It's really quiet cool I think, even if the products of it aren't always.
