Do high-functioning sociopaths even LET people get close to them?
To better understand your meaning, please provide a working definition of sociopathy and/or supporting links thereto. Thanks.
Answering your question in the meantime, it seems necessary for sociopaths to periodically cultivate feigned closeness with select individuals in order to secure normalizing social camouflage and willing instruments to facilitate the realization of their desires.
That's an incredibly glamourous lake.
The canine's dye job looks so professional.
I've never found that definition of sociopathy satisfying. ****** was clearly a sociopath, but he had a genuine relationship with his people. It's said that he was good friends with Albert Speer up until the very end, and even then he let Speer go.
This may well be true for psychopaths, but not sociopaths I don't think. However, sociopaths who die younger are less emotionally bonded to society than sociopaths who die older.
But in my experience, sociopaths anchor their anti-social behavior on a real hate or spite for the influence of the belief system opposite their dominant. I know this from personal relationships with many sociopaths.
I hope it's a vehicle for immanentizing the eschaton.

I didn't suspect I would ever get to say this, but she makes Ke$ha sound like a neuroscientist and my roommate like he's Einstein on Adderol.
