SLIs have a tendency to feel awkward about something, and then publicly voice their feelings, not realizing that doing actually makes it ten times more awkward.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. The reason people refrain from talking about the awkward event is so that it will fade away from the social "vibe" or whatever, and allow people to move on. Voicing the awkwardness out loud makes the situation much worse and is a horrible trait.
