I had an opportunity to attend a management training last week and we all took a shortened version of the DISC.
Anybody familiar with this?
What do we think about how it's correlated with socionics?
I won't tell my DISC profile right now . . .

I have done it once and was that people holding type.
I looked at it a loooong time ago... I will refresh my memory and get back to you.
I like this test model. Someone posted it at MBTI Central.
I hate DiSC. It's like some discriminatory tool or something, to determine if you're able to lead or not.

*laughs* I've taken a different one (and this one). I started S/I, but after re-taking the test in the following months, I'm now high I. This test... I think it had me S when I took it.
I won't take it now because I know far too much about the types to take it objectively.

Oh dear...
Dominance 24
Influence 4
Steadiness 28
Compliance 44
DOMINANCE = 16
INFLUENCE = 12
STEADINESS = 40
COMPLIANCE = 32
meh, didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. Heh, the dominance descriptions sounds like a contrast of stereotypical Ni-leading (low dominance) and stereotypical Se-leading (high dominance).

Ezra likes it because he's probably high on the D-scale.

I already know I'm D.
D: 68
I: 20
S: 4
C: 8
I'd like to have an high score on the I-scale... High-I types are cool people.
D=24
I=24
S=28
C=24
I don't think I replied to this test very accurately. Most questions are more reflecting to cognitive development stage rather than cognitive types.
DiSC = retarded.
D: EJ and/or ExTx
I: EP and/or ExFx
S: IP and/or IxFx
C: IJ and/or IxTx
This was actually the first typology system I was ever exposed to. My parents learned about it in Sunday school.
.
oic... you sounded quite certain of what you were saying, so I assumed you had some idea what you were talking about.
There's actually a long list of words that describe each of them.
D: dominant, driving, demanding, determined, decisive doer
I: inspirational, influencing, inducing, impressive, interactive, interesting, interested
S: supportive, submissive, stable, steady, sentimental, shy, status-quo, specialist
C: cautious, competent, calculating, concerned, careful, contemplative
Having pulled out the book again, it seems it's outgoing vs. reserved instead of extroverted vs. introverted.
What do they mean by their version of E/I ?
I'm socionics IT and myersian ET. I think I'm C-first or something, despite the test results. I'm interested in leading, but I don't really like to intimidate people, and I'm task-oriented rather than people-oriented.
I don't think I relate much to D or S.
I think it's more related to Etypes than socionic types or myersian types :
D : 3 8
I : 2 7
S : 4 9
C : 1 5

Like Joy said, it's outgoing vs. reserved. I was introduced to the 4-temperament system first as well, and I've been reading about it over a span of about 5 or 6 years.
On another note, the DiSC system irritates me, but I admit that the version I took was pretty good. It measures you on your outward appearance and certain interaction traits, preferred surroundings, etc. Still, once again, it's only as good as the person's view of him- or herself.

D 24
I 40
S 20
C 16
In other words, I'm not "high anything" on this one. I's the only one in mid-range. This is why I dislike the 4-temperament system: can't figure out what the heck I am (some say San/Mel isn't a valid combination).

"Tell someone you love them today, because life is short; shout it at them in German, because life is also terrifying."

The idea in the system is that everyone has a dominant style, but there's always a secondary style. Possible combinations are D/I, D/C, I/D, I/S, S/C, S/I, C/S, and C/D. D and S are opposites that are not found together (unless one's environment forced him/her to adapt and take on traits of their opposite), as are I and C.
Therefore, if someone isn't sure what type they are because a few of their scores are close, they can look at their lowest score to help them determine it. Implied, for example, would be either an S/I or an S/C (according to her test scores).
(I'm a D/I, btw.)
