I understand what you mean, generally using your instincts is great when dealing with people. Where i find socionics quite handy is if im in a relationship with somone like my father who is my conflictor. To understand his point of view helps me understand how to get on with him better which improves our relationship. My natural way of dealing with him is to get angry and argue with every point he makes.

The general social sciences can do the same but are far less restrictive. Also, type seems to often be used as an excuse. Would it be okay for your father to be an ass to you? I think not. And vice versa.
