I do meditate, sometimes not often enough. This is because I have a very hard time to keep routines. Meditation, to me, is not so much about not thinking or zoning out somewhere. Thinking can't be stopped anyway. It's about really being present right here, about opening your heart and being to the current moment. Just, being here. I read in a Zen book that meditation is not really just about the sitting practice - washing dishes can be meditational aswell. Being awake slowly penetrates the whole life and becomes a full-time activity. Hopefully.
Partly I am posting this reply in the hopes that someone like who I used to be will spot it and be encouraged to get into it. Finding meditation and the courage to try it was a turning point in my life.
