I think you're right, Fillion himself may be ESE. His Malcolm Reynolds character seemed LSE to me, though.
On the other hand Rick Castle actually seems ENFx to me. Likewise, Kate Beckett seems ISTx. Beckett is more down-to-earth and pragmatic; she uncovers the evidence and sticks to it. Castle's role in the show is to make wild intuitive leaps based on his writing experience.
I tend to lean toward IEE and SLI, but I am by no means sure. ENFx and ISTx is as definitive as I can get at the moment.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent.
