Not sure of the why, actually. I read it in a description (which I translated here), and it seems to correlate with my own observations. Beyond that, I can't think of a specific explanation --although since it seems to apply to both ethical and logical types, I don't think your hypothesis would explain it, as even an ethical type with an irrational subtype would still have stronger ethics than a rational-subtype logical type.
