I just caught up with a few days worth of this thread, and my reaction can only be summarized by the following: Maybe I'm feeling so pessimistic due to the cumulative effect of reading it all at once, but somehow I don't think the original intent of the thread can be salvaged anymore...

I've considered trying to make another thread but the problem would remain.

My current policy advocacy is use ignore. It's kind of unexpectedly mental refreshing; it's not as intrusive or bogus as I thought the ignore function would be. Instead, I just get to see the people I want to see, and talk to those I want to talk to

This is a bit like the realist view of world politics - there is no international police to sort things out. Guidelines, exactly as you say, are not going to stop the worst offenders.

Funny how the term redneck changes from a positive to a negative.

Initially redneck was a term that was used to describe Scots-Ulster immigrants to USA. The rednecks played a large positive role in shaping what American ideals are, it's constitution, hard work, and also the construction of the nation at high levels.

I can't remember how the term redneck came about just now, but what it says on wiki is incorrect as far as I recall. Maybe i'll remember.

Anyway, there are still some qualities in todays 'redneck' which existed in the original rednecks, willing to fight for liberty and principles, although whether the rednecks of today are descended from a stock of the originals, or are just a group of people where only unsavoury aspects can be categorised by the now negative word, is something i'd need to think about some more.

I am a little fatigued today.

I'm not sure. I should probably eat something, though. According to some people not eating is bad for your health. I'm kind of tired, though, and unmotivated to get up and fix something.

I get our meat, eggs, cheese, and milk from a small local farm now, and as many vegetables as I can, given our short growing season. But the cattle (both beef and dairy) are all grass fed, which supposedly makes it healthier. Or less unhealthy anyway.

Local grown stuff can be pretty good.

i think it is very good, or at least i love it. when it comes to "ethnic" (for lack of a better word) restaurants though it kinda depends, they're only as good as their competition lol. maybe you should give it a go next time, it can be very very good, well, I have never been disappointed.

Mm, now I want to go to this Lebanese restaurant I know... I think one reason "ethnic" food places can be so good is because they can specialize and make their foods unique.

Now, I have no idea if this is type-related, but, strangely enough, it resonates. When living somewhere up north in Europe I missed the bus back to school and didn't want to wait half an hour for the next one, so I thought I'd walk the distance, why not. I'd have to walk between this thin stretch of road between this awe-inspiring mountain that drops almost perpendicular to the edge of the fjord (frozen, incidentally). I believe it took me about 3-4 hours and it was pitch dark the whole time. I stopped at some point cuz I felt the ground shaking, don't know if it was a reindeer or what and couldn't tell how far or close it was, but i freaked out, lol. The "thing" let me be though. Was kinda terrified in a way the whole time, nature kinda scares me, it's too big or sth, lol. I told my friend when i got back to school and he politely suggested i might be crazy

I have no idea what i'm thinking at the time of doing these kinda activities though, but i wonder if it's some kind of inner pilgrimage of sorts, maybe to know yourself better (heh, myself scares me sometimes.

To end it on a slightly more positive note though, i'm 8 and my brother is 10 and we're somewhere south vacating with the fam. Parents go out and my gamma brother dares me to this crazy game. We (well, my parents really, lol) have a bottle of grappa and he says whoever is able to chug from the bottle w/o stopping for the longest time wins the game. He goes first and I thought "wow, that was long, can't let him win". He only chugged for a couple seconds, if that. So now i'm chugging and my eyes are bulging. I won, i think, but can't really remember lol. I think i was barfing til my parents came back. The next day was still drunk, went to look at my dad clean his motorcycle and fell from the veranda onto the garden. I remember giggling at my dad "dad, haha, i'm drunk and i didn't get hurt at all", lol.

So, yeah, not sure these things make you stronger, lol

Yeah, I think the thought processes behind pushing oneself and boundaries is kind of important. For example, are you doing it for the thrill? To make yourself stronger? Because it's just there? Etc.

Indeed, just like the trials and tribulations of real life, it's all represented here. To experience the heights we must also experience the depths, so i'm told. I'll let you know how it all goes, although it might even be better if it was just one straight line.

My signature says that she has been going around the forum asking people for information about me, which I find distrubing and highly mean. She showes herself to be nice but she is cunning and highly manipulative.

Don't you find it highly suspicious that someone who claims to be a certain type will not provide VI photo's to confirm? She has not done this after asking her several times, which makes me not trust her at all as an individual who is sincere or honest.

I can't. Even when I do try I get very emotional and hide away. Just this conversation made me start crying...I just can't.

I mean I take risks, but nothing extreme; I have done journalism where you have to get yourself into some serious situations, but I feel like it's a process; if I get into it then I can better tollerate it but the more I withdraw into my world away from it the more I lock myself out that world and the more I get into the gentleness of the world or become more idealistic and expect that things will be kinder.
