For example, if I was having a serious discussion about my job and feeling adrift and purposeless, and happened to mention something about wondering what "the meaning of life" is, I might then abruptly interject a silly quote from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, laugh about it, perhaps go on a small "Monty Python Quote" tangent, and then return to the seriousness. Things like that. Some Serious types might read that as insincerity or something.

But seriously, have you met your dual? I know one that bought an industrial tub of frosting for her and her boyfriend to put on cookies they made from time to time. "It's a better deal!" She was forcing frosting on people for months after that. They threw it out 2/3 full a while later.
