I think it corresponds to the creative function actually, like a lot of things. Irrational Betas typically like Alphas more, rational Betas typically like Gammas more. I'm generally the same way.

Works for me, I tend to socialize with and prefer deltas more than betas.

I agree, I usually have more Alpha acquaintance, I make friends with them easier, but gamma tends to make me feel more comfortable and at ease.

No kidding at all, I am more comfortable long term with Gamma in general than with Alpha, LIE my look-a-like, some unhealthy one can be such an ass but if the healthy one when I get close with them, I don't feel as if I have to watch what I say compare to ESE. No question asked how comfortable I would be if I compare ILI with SEI for me as I don't think I would want to be supervised and take the constant . ISFj although the relationship are straining as time goes, I feel more calm with them and I can relax easily with them, with LII, its a HIGH and then a low....(arguing can arise), With ENTp and ESFp it will depend on the person.

Could this also be related to sub-type?

I am EII-Fi, I socialize more with Gammas and have my whole life, with a couple of Alphas in the mix.

IEI, and I probably have more Alpha friends than Gammas, although my Gamma friends are closer than the Alphas.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I mix between Alphas and Deltas, though I work with a whole bunch of Gamma, and every once in a while hang out with them.

it really depends. i like delta more if i'm getting drunk or high and being an asshole, which is pretty fun, but usually our sense of humor is limited to laughing at somethings expense (ISTps) and discussions get somewhat boring after a while. ENFp/ISTp is easier to talk to in that case. For beta, it's ESTp/INFp. Beta has more interesting discussions, can enjoy more petty fucked up things like wrecking the neighbors snowman or watching jerry springer, and can laugh at absurdity.. which can be entertaining

The evidence seems to support it so far -- I hang out mostly with Deltas.

Deltas. I have at least three highly important Delta friendships: my sister (EII), friend/college roommate #1 (IEE), and friend/college roommate #2 (EII). I still have a number of Beta friends and relations, but I think that my closer ones tend to be Delta.

i agree with this. and i would add that you'd rather not be around your supervisor or around people who value the information element found in your polr.

It can go either way, depends on the individual

Gammas are easier to talk to, especially in regards to serious issues, but they're a bit too...harsh I guess
Alphas are more comforting to be around since they're generally more excepting and enjoy Ne/Si playfulness, but I can't connect with them beyond superficial matters

I usually find myself with Deltas. This has more to do with my circumstances than my preferences... I've spent little enough time with Beta that I don't know from experience which I'd prefer.

I might go with what Hkkmr said... "Deltas are more tolerable, but Betas are more fun."

I actually spend more time with neighboring quadras than with my own quadra. It depends what mood I'm in. Alphas are more fun, but gammas are more relaxing to get along with.

Theoretically it should depend on the valued information elements:

    irrational:
    Apha and Delta:
    Beta and Gamma:

    rational:
    Alpha and Beta:
    Gamma and Delta:

I think it is a bit more complicated and also depends on subtypes.

In general I like Deltas - except of some LSEs.
In general I can't stand EIEs, LSIs and SLEs - but there are exceptions depending on subtypes.

Very very interesting that you share this opinion...my IEI brother loves his Alpha friends, while I can hardly stand to be around them for more than a few minutes, however, I absolutely love Gammas.

    Hate is a strong word
