I suggest putting aside the self typing for the time being, and just learn the basics of socionics. Your type will become clear if you understand the functions and functional preference.
Try typing people you know; or try to understand popular typings of famous people.

Each type has a general message that originates in the functions. The functions determine the type message. The important thing to focus on is the differences between each type message, and get a feel for what each is like. When typing, try to narrow down your choices to two or three with an educated guess based on the observable information. At a later point you can seek further clarification by trying to determine functional preference. Over time, the type of the person in question will become clearer, and over a greater time your understanding of the type itself will become clearer with more real life examples. Perhaps you can create and share with us your own list of "type messages", or other insights, in the future.
