At the end of the day really, I basically only get along with 9s, 2s and other 7s. With other types, there's always some kind of fallback sooner or later. 5s and 1s might somehow be an exception, but it's hard to developt a close relationship with them.

I don't really think I have a "duality" relation with any Enneagram type. Although I'm rather partial to E5's and E4's, much like with Socionics though I wouldn't base any of my potential relationships around the Enneagram.

I think I tend to do best with 9s, 1s, 2s (sometimes), and other 6s; though, there are always exceptions, and I'm certainly not going to base my [potential] relations off of any sort of typology system.

Of course nobody bases his relationship potential on enneagram. It's just an ex-post evaluation.

Yellow is my E dual. I don't know what E type she is but I don't care much. She's my E-dual And so are her cakes (I mean the chocolate cakes).

    Dual type (as per tcaudilllg)
    Enneagram 5 (wings either 4 or 6)?

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

    E6, E1, sx primary.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Probably 8s and 1s (but I'm biased about the 1 lol)
I tend to like 7s but they are too... 7ish.

And yes, I also don't get along with sx last types, not in an intimate relationship that is.

I just read this thread lol... Phaedrus was a cunt.

I find I have more attraction to 7s, but am ultimately not satisfied because they aren't as stable as an 8 (or 1). I haven't ever been in a relationship with an 8, but I've dated two 7s (Se-SEE 7w6 and Se-SLE 7w8). I think it is different because I'm probably a 2 rather than a 4. From my perspective, i just wanted to help both of them, the SEE to a lesser extent, and they both rejected my help, SLE being more rejecting than the SEE.
The SEE didn't need it nearly as much, but whenever something unpleasant came up, he would try to change the subject back to lighthearted conversation (even about things that REALLY mattered).
The SLE, otoh, was a bit different. He was very conflicted and emotionally fucked up, and basically rejected all of my efforts to help him (and he very obviously needed help from someone). A lot of tragic things happened to him, biggest one was his mom being murdered on his birthday. I can remember one particular incident when we were in his car, in a parking lot, and he just started crying. I tried talking to him a couple of times and he didn't respond, so I just held his hand. It went on for about 20-30 minutes when he suddenly stopped and then started making silly jokes. Things like this happened often, like once a week. He would get really upset and then afterwards act like nothing had happened.

I guess maybe the ones I have dated aren't good examples because they both had some inner turmoil, but that is basically why I say 8>7. I like 7s as friends though.

As a 6w5/5w6 I seem to mostly be attracting a mixture of 4w3s and 2w1s with the odd 6w7 thrown in for flavour.

As a sx/sp I tend to get the best interaction from sx/so types.

Default Your Enneagram Type and Dating

What's your type (number and wing, if you know it)? Which types have you dated?

Which relationships were the best and worst for you (and why, if you'd like to share)?

6w5 sx/sp here, was into a 5w6 sp/sx for a couple years. I would imagine that any sx/sp type would be best for me, although I'd probably prefer 9w8, 8w9, and maybe 5w6 over others.

I haven't had much interaction with 4s, but I imagine that both of our emotional preferences wouldn't balance very well; I need someone to ground me in reality and bring me back to earth when I get overreactive and anxious.

This looks like total nonsense. My relationships with other people, as well as the relationships I've seen among others, don't fall along those lines with any sort of neatness. Sounds to me like the guy is trying too hard to systematize everything regardless of how that system reflects the real world.

I don't have much experience with Enneagram, mut I guess I find 7s, 8s and especially 9s the most attractive. 1s, 2s (and maybe 3s) probably the least. The rest (4s, 5s and 6s) are awesome for friendship but in a relationship I think I'd need someone to balance me out and a type more down-to-earth would be good for that.

I'm 4w5. I know my current guy is 7w6, and I think me ex is 5w4 or 4w5. I like the optimism of type 7s, and the desire to try new things. I think I'd do well with an 8, too. A 7w8 would probably be my ideal enneatype in a partner.

    7 sx/sp here. I've dated 6w5 sp (I THINK. Not sure on the variants), 1w9, 5w6 sx/sp, and I'm currently dating a 4w3 sx/so.

I think that similarminds post is bullshit, personally. Enneagram isn't meant to be a relationship matcher. I think different people of the same type can have different "optimum" relationships. Everything on there says 7s go best with 3s, but I clash HARD with threes. I know quite a few, and they grate on my nerves. I tend not to be a fan of the more extroverted self-image types (2s and 3s) because they're so worried about maintaining that image. I see through it and its like nails on a chalkboard. All I want to do is air their dirty laundry everywhere so that people won't think they're so awesome. I also can't see myself with another 7. As friends, yes, but there is no deeper connection. I need a more withdrawn type to ground me instead of a 7, who would no doubt be bouncing around, feeding off each other until the universe exploded into a storm of rainbow skittles.

I find myself getting along in friendships very well with 9s. That's the only type that seems to consistently show up as someone that I get along with almost immediately (only in friendship; too passive to date). Relationshipwise.... I'm doing very well with this 4w3 at the moment. 5s aren't bad, either. Maybe a 9w8? I haven't met one, so I'm not completely sure.

And for the variants, I've observed it's best if your first variant matches and your second doesn't.
