It's not about feeling better. Who's to say I should feel bad in the first place? Don't act as if these external doctrines are all-encompassing truths. Explain why stealing is inherently bad, other than the fact that it doesn't propagate survival (which seems to be, largely in part, the basis for many ethical codes).

Like I said, I was primarily arguing the principle. There is no workable rationale that suggests it is okay to steal someone's food unless you are in dire circumstances (Jessica's don't qualify). Saying that the victim is overweight and thus somehow more eligible to have their food taken if it doesn't meet your dietary criteria is nonsense. That's like saying we all have the right to police each other's food intake. Sure, what Jessica did wasn't really a big deal in the big picture, but that doesn't make it acceptable unless you want to die the death of a thousand cuts.
