Default Desire for the protection of women close to oneself

Is this inherent within most males or is it more to do with a particular romantic style, such as Caregiver or Victim? I'm not talking about protection that stems from jealousy, insecurity or a pure wish to get into the woman's pants, but a genuine desire to protect women who are close to you.

I think this trait is pretty universal. Probably some mix of evolutionary need and in many cases instantiated in cultural mores. I wouldn't say it's so much type-related except in how the particular person would go about the protecting.

Sounds more like an evolutionary development that helped ensure the survival of populations.

If an animal specie is divided into two sexes, two cases can arise: either one of the sexes is stronger than the other, or they are both equally strong. If the former is what prevails, then the stronger sex will behave in such a way typically associated with "protection". Obviously the two distributions - with strenght on the x axis - overlap to a certain extent, so there are some women stronger than some men.

Thank you for clarifying. Definite difference.

Well I agree, usually the desire is slightly different in my case (c:

But as far as the protection goes, I get that towards Ni, males too but females more. Probably for cultural and, as Logos said, evolutionary reasons.

Are we talking mainly about physical protection as in protection against aggressions or a general "care taking" behavior?

I don't really think it is much socionics related.

It might just be a guy thing.
If I was to say a very general sort of remark, IME, I've noticed S types being more openly protective, but that really doesn't say much. A lot of it is probably just instinctual, or even cultural.
Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.

I've noticed I often have the desire to protect close friends if I feel they need it. I rarely know how to though, which saddens me at times. I don't know whether I'd be any different towards males or not, since all my close friends are female.
