Oh, to find you in dreams - mixing prior, analog, and never-beens... facts slip and turn and change with little lucidity. except the strong, permeating reality of emotion.
my first oil painting:
not done yet. i could probably work on this for months, but it's due this friday…
the only thing i'm semi-satisfied with is the teeth/lip area, so i have a long way to go. oh and maybe his right nostril. i like that one.

It's insane. I used to draw and all that but have zero patience for it.
Nice job, Allie! Even unfinished it looks good. What was the assignment? And how big is that canvas?

Nice job. I can never do detail as good as you. Anything I'd draw would be an outline of something.
nice

@ minde: it's 4 x 4 ft, made out of an old bed sheet. it's not really an assignment, the due date was only a personal one. i heard oil takes weeks-months to dry, so i wanted to be done by friday so that it'd for sure be dry in time for this gallery thing in march. i didn't finish though:
maybe by wednesday, but probably not. overall i'm getting frustrated with it cause i have to work on it like 4-6 hrs everyday and i'm just tired already.

I wrote this about a year and a half ago. Probably my most favorite thing I've ever done creatively.

Wow, that's great Arctures! What did you use to make/record it?
@ Allie - I can totally relate to getting tired of doing a painting, and it's harder when it's bigger like that. Plus any perfectionist tendencies don't help.
Did you stretch the sheet yourself?
Again, even unfinished I think it looks good enough to show. I have a friend who is also kind of a perfectionist painter who often works on larger canvases and will like you get tired after awhile and just stop or pause on a work. She'll call it unfinished, and relative to what she could keep doing it is, but relative to what other people like it's fantastic. Here's an example of something she calls only half-finished, for example:
I don't know its exact dimensions - at least 5 ft. tall, though. Looking at it, yeah, there are areas she could of course refine. But... nonetheless it's still nice to look at and worthy of hanging on a wall.
Anyway, if you decide to work on yours more I'd love to see the progress.

Some of these are a couple years old and some of you might have seen them before, but I've been categorizing my pictures and one of the categories is people - so I figured I'd share.

lol disclaimers. thanks though still
not quite.
<3 i'll keep that in mind
normally i do, but this time my teacher did it for me.
yeah i agree. very cool. (:I don't know its exact dimensions - at least 5 ft. tall, though. Looking at it, yeah, there are areas she could of course refine. But... nonetheless it's still nice to look at and worthy of hanging on a wall.
well i finally finished it today so i'll upload it in a second.Anyway, if you decide to work on yours more I'd love to see the progress.

okay so if it were up to me i'd probably refine details more (particularly the under-eye areas) but i need it to dry by wednesday and i'm already cutting it close i'm still very pleased with how it turned out though. i only finished a few hrs ago so i'm still sort of relieved/out of it.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

I really like the second picture.
It reminds me of pure Ego or what the Mind is. It's in abstract concepts. Structure. The mind is just a structure, it just builds and categorizes everything in a certain way but in all reality none of it is real, you don't really see something like that in 'mother nature' or whatever you know, it's just what the mind is designed as. But then again, at the same time you can't prove it wrong. Just like you can't prove any negative wrong. So, it's real too! So it's interesting.
Can I be the faggy art critic? =p
lol. Dumb teenagers. I actually love museums.

You folks are good.
I already knew that Pinkcanary was good in art, but Allie and Rubicon, I did not know that the two of you were good artists.
